About the job
The ICRC Security & Crisis Management Support (SCMS) Unit is seeking a highly capable Operations Room Officer to join our team in Kyiv. This role is responsible for ensuring effective communication and information management, as well as vigilant monitoring and support of vehicles and convoys, engaged in ICRC activities, with a keen focus on implementing and upholding standard operating procedures. The aim is to guarantee the safety of ICRC teams by ensuring that all concerned parties adhere to established protocols and procedures.
Start date: January 2025 or Immediately
Your Tasks and Responsibilities
- Communication Management: Swiftly transmit and receive messages using telephone and satellite systems, ensuring prioritization based on the nature and urgency of the communications.
- Real-Time Vehicle and Field Activity Monitoring: Monitor and document the movements of all ICRC field teams, maintaining an up-to-date record of all field activities.
- Regular Radio Checks: Conduct routine radio checks with ICRC staff to ensure continuous and seamless communication.
- Operational Logging: Maintain a detailed station log of all operational occurrences within the ICRC.
- Telecommunication Equipment Operation: Proficiently operate telecommunication equipment, including telephones, computers, and two-way radios.
- Incident Reporting: Promptly inform Management and the Operations Room Manager of any information or incidents that could impact the safety of personnel and assets.
- Situation Report Creation: Develop and disseminate various situation reports to provide comprehensive updates on ongoing operations and incidents.
- Shift Schedule: Work according to a shift schedule, with each shift not exceeding 8 hours.

About you
To be successful as Operations Room Officer in the Security & Crisis Management Support (SCMS) Unit, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:
- Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine
- Vocational training in electronics, telecommunication, IT or similar fields is an asset
- Some experience working with the ICRC is an asset
- Good knowledge of English
- Computer literacy
- Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
- Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
- Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
- Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary environment
