The «Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Deutschland (ASB)» is a German aid and welfare organization working in areas such as rescue services, civil protection and social services. Since its foundation in 1888, the ASB has acted as a politically and denominationally independent association ensuring a high level of continuity and reliability.
ASB provides people centred humanitarian response to alleviate human suffering, contributes to building the resilience of systems, communities and societies and applies integrated approaches to welfare and to social and socio-economic development. ASB currently has a portfolio of more than 100 projects in countries such as Bangladesh, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Haiti, Indonesia, Iraq, Kosovo, Nepal, Nicaragua, Niger, Philippines, Serbia and Ukraine.
ASB has been implementing humanitarian interventions in Ukrainesince the beginning of the conflict in 2014. Following the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia in February 2022, ASB has increased the humanitarian operations to respond to multiple needs of the war-affected population of Ukraine. Our team of 18 employees working from Kyiv and Lviv is committed to provide multi-sectoral humanitarian aid in the areas of basic needs, food security, hygiene, winterization, health and psychosocial support. This includes in-kind assistance as well as cash components and social services provided in cooperation with local partners.
ASB in Ukraine is currently seeking expressions of interest from qualified and committed individuals for the following position:
ASB Project Officer, Income generation activities (male/female/diverse)
Duration: 12 months (possibility of extension)
Start: As soon as possible

Key responsibilities include:
Project areas are widely dispersed around Ukraine and far from ASB regional offices, possibility to travel, self-management, knowledge and experience in grants leading programs, business development, communication and reporting are vital under these conditions. The Project Officer Income generation activities (IGA) must utilize all available means, resources, and opportunities to discuss and resolve problems as they arise. Project implementation regions are Dnipro, Poltava, Kyiv, Lviv (in Hromadas mainly).
- Support Project Manager (PM) in project coordination with internal team and implementing partners in area of IGA.
- Participate and contribute to the needs assessment and implementation of IGA.
- Prepare accurate and timely progress reports on a monthly / quarterly basis and contribute to the preparation of annual reports as per the area of responsibility.
- Provides internal and external technical support and leadership by: Providing technical inputs / advice to business development groups / individuals.
- Reviewing, analysing, and approving of business plans developed by business groups / individuals under project for the further funding by ASB.
- Reviewing, monitoring, analysing, advising and reporting for the started / developed income generation activities by beneficiaries.
- To track and timely report any of corruption / fraud cases or any safeguarding issues to management of ASB with the aim to prevent / stop this.
- Support PM in developing and maintaining strong working relationships with partners as well as developing a network of technical experts as per the area of responsibility.
- Development and organisation of capacity building trainings, measures related to Income generation activities in project.
- Support / lead the preparation of technical assignments for contracting of implementation partners in area of IGA capacity building activities.
- In collaboration with PR officer to ensure visibilities of ASB and donors during distributions and other activities.
- To fulfil any other task assigned by line manager.
Key requirements:
- University Degree in Bachelor’s degree or higher in relevant field.
- Knowledge of Ukrainian standards and law in business registering, reporting, management.
- Experience: 2-3 years of experience in income generation activities, business development, business consulting. Experience in humanitarian filed is an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with and within multi-cultural teams.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner.
- Understanding of humanitarian principles (Core Humanitarian Standards, Sphere Minimum Standards, etc.).
- Excellent presentation abilities, report writing, communication and as well as analytical and problem-solving, goal oriented, organisational skills. A flexible and adaptable approach to work.
- Written and spoken fluency in Ukrainian.
- Knowledge of English (written and spoken) C1, C2.
- Excellent command of common computer programs (MS Office, especially Excel and Word functions).
