Assignment 

Technical assistant as a part of the Communication team is responsible for the cross-cutting support of the units in preparation of the debriefs and notes for the translation and translation from/into English/Ukrainian/Russian as a part of IMPACT/REACH-led assessment activities. He/she will have the opportunity to work across all IMPACT/REACH programs and thematic focuses, including its humanitarian-focused portfolio, environment/disaster risk reduction portfolio, socio-economic portfolio, and support to local governments and decision-makers.

IMPACT Senior Translation & Reporting Officer 

IMPACT Reporting & Communications Manager 

IMPACT Country Representative 


FUNCTIONS 

 The Technical Officer will be responsible and lead on the implementation of the following tasks: 

1. Systematisation of translation work on debriefs & transcripts:

  • In cooperation with Communications Manager, STRO & AOs & FU – creates a process to systematise the rolling in, preparation, translation, and rolling out of transcripts and debriefs 

  • Creates a system for maintaining & accounting for transcripts and debriefs submission, translation and return to AOs/SAOs 

  • Is a translation sub-team within Communication Team Focal Point for creating and maintaining calendar & tasks request for transcripts and debriefs, clearing the units aspired deadlines & maintaining capacity overview. 

  • Creates and maintains archives & file storage system for maintaining terminology banks, file system of approved final translations. 

  • Reports to STRO & Communications Manager on the workload for workload purposes. 

  • Participates in the FU enumerators trainings to maintain close relationships with FU, TT & AOs. 

 2. Translation support & assistance for debriefs & transcripts:

  • Prepares the transcripts and debriefs for the automated translation; 

  • Uses CAT & AI translation tools with respect to all IMPACT data protection policies to facilitate the translation process of the debriefs & transcripts; 

  • Prepares the files (transcripts & debriefs) into AO/SAO preferred format; 

  • Ensures quality management and review of English, Ukrainian and Russian-language debriefs & transcripts; 

  • Liaises with the AO/SAOs of respective RCs & units to facilitate the process of translation and report on the progress of the translation.  

  • Contribute to lessons learned matrices after each assessment with field work related inputs, identify areas or improvement for translation team. 

 3. Translation support to Communication Officer & Communication Team:

  • Provides support for translation of the internal dissemination materials, articles, etc as per request; 

  • Maintains and improves the IMPACT tracking system for campaign analytics and maintaining archives; 

 4. Communication Team support:  

  • Supports IMPACT Communication Manager in other tasks as required; 

  • Liaises with Admin Assistant & Operation Teams on translation of ToRs & relevant organizing documents. 

  • Participates in pertinent trainings, workshops, strategic sessions, and other capacity building events for personal and professional development and engagement opportunities   

 5. Confidentiality and Data Protection: 

 The IMPACT Translation and Reporting Officer will maintain the strictest confidentiality of data and processes. He/she will actively take measures to prevent the unauthorized sharing of information and data. 

 Perform other duties and responsibilities as required and necessary within the area of responsibility. 

Qualifications 

 Education 

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Linguistics or any relevant discipline; 

 Technical requirements:  

  • Full working proficiency in English (at least a C1 command), Ukrainian, and Russian required; 

  • Previous experience working in humanitarian, development, or environmental fields required; 

  • Previous experience translating, copyediting, drafting high-quality analytical products in Ukrainian and Russian documents;  

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite including Excel and Power Point skills 

  • Desirable technical qualifications: 

  • Knowledge of report production software (i.e. InDesign, Illustrator) is a strong asset. 

  • Knowledge of computer-assisted translation software is an asset.

 Conditions  

  • Salary defined by the ACTED salary grid; educational level, expertise, hardship, security, and performance.
