News Translator & Editor (Ukrainian–English) | Morning Shift The New Voice of Ukraine (NV) · Kyiv, Ukraine · Hybrid (2 days/week in office)
NV is Ukraine's leading independent news outlet. Our English-language edition — english.nv.ua — covers the war, politics, business, and culture for a global audience. Around-the-clock coverage requires around-the-clock work - and so we're looking for talented candidates to join our daily news reporting team to handle the morning news shift.
The role
You'll translate and edit breaking news, analysis, and reports from Ukrainian to English, working the 7 AM–2 PM Kyiv time shift. You will be responsible for story selection, pair editing, and meeting all necessary quality and consistency requirements for the position.
What you'll do
- Translate Ukrainian-language articles and into clean, idiomatic English
- Draft and write breaking news stories on tight, competitive schedules
- Cooperate with other members of the news team to ensure broad coverage and minimize dropped stories
What we're looking for
- At least 2 years of experience in translation, journalism, or editing — preferably in a newsroom or media environment
- Native or near-native English proficiency; strong Ukrainian required
- Solid news judgment and an understanding of what English-language audiences need from Ukrainian coverage
- Familiarity with AP or similar editorial style
- Ability to work the 7 AM–2 PM Kyiv time shift consistently
Working arrangement
Hybrid — 2 days per week at our Kyiv office, remote otherwise. Candidates must be based in or near Kyiv.
