ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW
FHI 360 is a US-based NGO dedicated to improving lives in lasting ways by advancing integrated, locally driven solutions. FHI 360’s Crisis Response team is responding to the humanitarian emergency, providing integrated health, nutrition, mental health, and protection programming to address the critical needs of the population. FHI 360 seeks a Nutrition Assistant for an anticipated new nutrition project to improve infant and young child feeding (IYCF) practices among pregnant and lactating women in health facilities and communities. The position is contingent upon confirmation of donor funding.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Under the supervision of the Nutrition Coordinator, the Nutrition Associate is responsible for performing administrative and technical duties to support the implementation of FHI 360’s nutrition activities in 7 regions of southern and eastern Ukraine. The Nutrition Associate will provide operational, administrative, and technical support for the Nutrition Sector when required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES
- Provide day-to-day administrative and operational support to nutrition activities in all regions.
- When required, support the Nutrition Officer in managing community nutrition volunteers and implementing community IYCF promotion, referral, and follow-up.
- When required, assist in managing the implementation of the IYCF training for health workers, including coordination with the procurement and finance unit as needed. Coordinate with participants before the training.
- Support the coordination for distributing mother-baby hygiene kits to women receiving IYCF services.
- Provide operational support to provide lactation counseling support in health facilities (including support FHI 360’s lactation counselors to ensure they have the logistic, material, and technical support they need for direct services and mentorship of health workers).
- Contribute to training and field activity reports and ensure data on training indicators is submitted to the MEAL Unit.
- Maintain the implementation matrix for nutrition activities, keeping it up-to-date and ensuring that all activities and support facilities/communities are accurately represented.
- Make phone calls, coordinate requests for support, schedule appointments, and assist in organizing internal and external meetings.
- Take notes and document minutes during internal and external meetings.
- Maintain updated electronic and hard copy files related to nutrition activities.
- Conduct preparatory work for new activities, information gathering, and background research, as the Nutrition Program Manager requested.
- Liaise with the nutrition unit and other departments, including procurement, logistics, finance, fleet, security, and MEAL.
- Translate and transcribe documents for the Nutrition sector when required.
- Any other duty assigned by the supervisor.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Being fluent in Ukrainian and English is a must.
- Degree holders in Medical, health science, Pure/Social Sciences, or Arts are welcomed. (Medical or Health-related degree is preferred).
- Proficient in using Microsoft Word
- Able to work in a team, attentive to details, eager to learn, and flexible to work in challenging conditions.
- Passion for working on mother, child health, and nutrition programs is essential.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills. Ability to multi-task and be open to learning.
