The EU LIFE project „Conservation of Europe's Rarest Continental Passerine: A Transboundary Initiative for Aquatic Warbler Population Recovery“ (acronym: LIFE4AquaticWarbler) aims at halting the ongoing range contraction of Europe?s rarest passerine bird species protected by the EU Birds Directive - the Aquatic Warbler (Acrocephalus paludicola). The aim of the project is to stop the declining trend of the subpopulations in Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Hungary and Ukraine and to restore the Aquatic warbler’s breeding range to an area larger than 1,500 km? by facilitating the re-occupation of at least 6 abandoned breeding sites. To reach this ambitious goal, the project will restore 3,910 ha of breeding habitat by vegetation and hydrology measures and translocate 760 birds from donor populations in Poland and Ukraine to recipient sites in Germany, Poland, Lithuania and Hungary. A particularity of this project is the intensive cooperation of the six project partners from four EU member states with a partner from the EU accession candidate state Ukraine.   • Maintaining professional contacts and building strategic and political alliances both nationally in Ukraine and internationally in Europe;
  • Supporting the project’s communication measures by processing the results of your team’s work in close co-operation with the project’s communications team.

What qualifies you:

  • Completed studies, preferably in the field of nature conservation or natural sciences;
  • Experience and reliability in the planning and implementation of complex projects, preferably in nature conservation;
  • Knowledge of international migratory bird conservation, including legal and nature conservation policy issues, as well as experience in the application of impact-oriented project planning and implementation approaches is an advantage;
