LWF World Service
LWF World Service is the internationally recognized humanitarian and development arm of The Lutheran World Federation (LWF). Today, LWF is a widely recognized international organization present in over 20 countries. In response to the crisis in Ukraine, LWF Ukraine has established major humanitarian operation in Kharkiv City/Oblast in the areas of Shelter rehabilitation, Winterization, School shelter rehabilitation, Protection including Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) and Food and NFIs distribution. Previously, LWF Ukraine had extended humanitarian support in Chernihiv Oblast and is now carrying out needs assessment to expand humanitarian support to the affected population in Sumska Oblast. LWF Ukraine aims to support IDPs, returnees and other affected communities in the Kharkiv and Sumska Oblasts. LWF Ukraine coordinates and works closely with the Government of Ukraine, local authorities, the LWF member church, ACT Alliance members, civil society organizations, UN inter-agencies and other relevant actors for effective implementation of the programs.
PURPOSE
Under the guidance and direction of the Finance Manager, Finance officer substantially contributes to the effective management of LWF accounting and ensure that the implementation of financial related activities and maintaining accounting records, in accordance with established LWF finance manual and the contract signed with donors.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Received all payments request and process for payments
- Preparing bank/cash voucher
- Assist Finance Manager handling online banking
- Maintain/update bank books on daily basis and keep update
- Maintain cash book and cash if required
- Filing/archiving all finance related files/vouchers/ documents
- Bank accounts reconciliation in the LWF prescribed format
- Close coordination with tax accounting Administration ensuring our disbursements are complying fully with government rules & regulation
- Close coordination with financial partners and donors
- Check implementing financial report
- Review Balance Sheet accounts (advances) every month and takes necessary steps to clear and reconcile
- Check business trip reports
- Check salary accruals
- Assist Finance Manager handling SAGE accounting software whatever possible sharing responsibility
- Field visits as needed.
Other duties
- Depending on the changing context, the post holder is expected to be flexible to take on additional related duties as assigned by her/his supervisor.
Education/ Experience/ Language Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration
- Good computer literacy. Good command on Excel/ Word. Knowledge of using any accounting software (SAGE) will be preferable.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working with non-profit organization (NGO’s) in the accounting field.
- Should be flexible, innovative, a team player with good interpersonal skills
- Able to work under pressure with competing deadlines in a demanding and challenging working environment
- Good language skills to include English and fluent Ukrainian
