Fundraising and Partnerships Manager

Background

HELVETAS is the largest Swiss nongovernmental organization with a dual mandate for long-term development and humanitarian response. It has been present in Ukraine for several year implementing development projects mainly through local partners.

During 2022 HELVETAS initiated emergency assistance. Currently we are building our operational presence to deliver comprehensive response to the current humanitarian crisis. HELVETAS plan to be active in Ukraine for next 5 years.

Objective of the assignment

The Fundraising and Partnerships Manager will be responsible for leading the development of high-quality concept notes, proposals, and other key fundraising documents. This role will focus primarily on securing new funding through the effective and timely preparation of grant submissions, while supporting donor engagement strategies. The Manager will collaborate closely with technical teams, partners, and the Head Office to ensure alignment with donor priorities and organizational objectives.

Subordination

The position holder works under the direction of the Country Coordinator (Business Development Coordinator? Grants and Partnerships Manager?) and in cooperation with Helvetas support staff.

Key responsibilities

Proposal Development and Concept Note Development

· Lead the coordination, drafting, and submission of high-quality concept notes and proposals for various donors, ensuring alignment with Helvetas country and global strategies.

· Collaborate with technical experts and program teams to integrate relevant project information, data, and inputs into proposals.

· Ensure compliance with donor requirements, guidelines, and submission deadlines, including managing the internal review and approval process for all submissions.

· Draft proposal annexes and required supporting documents in coordination with relevant teams (finance, program, MEAL).

· Facilitate brainstorming and design workshops with program teams and partners to conceptualize new project ideas.

Partnership Development

· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of donor priorities, guidelines, and strategies, particularly those related to Ukraine.

· Represent Helvetas in relevant donor meetings and events, ensuring strong visibility of the organization's work and identifying new funding opportunities.

· Support the Business Development team in maintaining relationships with current partners and exploring new partnerships.

· Contribute to maintaining a partnership tracker to document engagements and potential collaborations.

Qualifications and Skills

· Minimum of 4 years of experience in fundraising, proposal writing, or grant management in the development/humanitarian sector.

· Demonstrated experience writing successful proposals for institutional donors such as USAID, ECHO, FCDO, etc.

· Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, with a keen attention to detail and ability to translate complex information into clear, concise proposals.

· Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.

· Fluency in English and Ukrainian

· Ability to work in a diverse, cross-cultural environment.
