POSITION OVERVIEW
Under the supervision of the Senior MHPSS Officer, the MHPSS Officer is responsible for developing and implementing programming of mental health and psychosocial support activities, ensuring activities are evidence-based and adhere to technical standards. The MHPSS Officer will support technical programs from conception to completion. S/he will supervise field-level MHPSS technical staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES
- Assess MHPSS needs at health facilities and community institutions in Dnipro region.
- Provide line management and day-to-day supervision of psychologists and social workers in mobile teams and primary healthcare facilities (PHCs) through field monitoring visits. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of routine data from mobile teams.
- Regularly review data analysis from mobile team service provision and recommend adjustments in program modalities and approaches based accordingly.
- Secure the implementation of MHPSS component in Nutrition program activities, including day-to-day coordination with FHI 360’s Nutrition team, to ensure systematic MHPSS care for pregnant and postpartum women.
- Contribute to the technical design and developing of MHPSS program chatbot, including customization of the chatbot structure, define key topics, blocks, and interactive elements.
- Coordinate with health officers, nutrition and protection officers to ensure integrated programming and holistic service provision.
- Contribute to the design of FHI 360’s MHPSS activities, incorporating findings from field assessments and stakeholder consultations. Identify opportunities to reach vulnerable populations with MHPSS services such as discharged service members, people with disabilities, helper professionals and caregivers, and survivors of gender-based violence.
- Support the implementation of MhGAP, PFA, SH+ PM+, and EASE training workshops and online supervisions, including day-to-day coordination with FHI 360’s MHPSS Trainers and liaising with oblast/ city health directors as needed.
- Support the recruitment of psychologists and social workers based in mobile teams and primary healthcare facilities.
- Ensure that mobile team psychologists and social workers are actively referring clients for higher level services, including updating referral mapping and following FHI 360’s referrals SOP. Support capacity building and referral systems to psychiatric hospitals in Dnipro region.
- Contribute to development of technical materials for MHPSS activities, including SOPs, tools, and educational materials.
- Participate in national and sub-national MHPSS, health, and protection coordination structures, and liaise with key stakeholders from government, NGOs, and international organizations.
- Produce regular reports of MHPSS activities.
- Any other duties assigned by the Senior MHPSS Officer.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- University Degree or equivalent in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health or related discipline. Master’s degree is an asset.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in working with at-risk individuals, particularly on issues related to health and mental health.
- Fluent in Ukrainian. Working knowledge of English.
- Experience with health, protection, and humanitarian or development programming is an asset. Experience in dealing with issues of gender-based violence is an asset.
