POSITION OVERVIEW
USAID’s Economic Resilience Activity (ERA) is one of USAID’s core partners implementing the Agriculture Resilience Initiative – Ukraine (AGRI-Ukraine) that was established in 2022 to bolster Ukrainian agricultural exports and alleviate the global food security crisis exacerbated by the war. Under AGRI-Ukraine, ERA - implemented by prime contractor DAI with its subcontractor FHI 360 - partners with public and private companies to complement and leverage urgently needed grain transportation and transshipment investments.
FHI 360's Workforce Development team ensures that companies and other actors aligned with the agri-logistics and border crossing points sectors can access workers with appropriate skills, as well as new training partners to support productivity goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES
Provide technical leadership and assistance, driving the design and implementation of innovative program activities.
Empower workers in Ukraine by managing activities that help them adapt their skills to new industries and develop a new generation of workers ready to shape the region's future.
Forge dynamic partnerships with education and training institutions, investors, and businesses to create cutting-edge education and training programs tailored to employers' needs.
Engage with informal education institutions, such as training centers, co-working spaces, and vocational schools to align their curricula with the evolving needs of the region.
Work closely with team members, and prime and subcontractor organizations to ensure seamless collaboration and execution of projects.
Plan, conduct, document, and report on-site visits with grantees.
Play a crucial role in budget planning and monitoring, ensuring efficient use of resources.
Support the team lead in preparing insightful quarterly and annual reports, success stories, and other communications products.
Develop and monitor internal systems and procedures to guarantee the effective and proper use of resources.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in related field (e.g. psychology, communications, business, education, agriculture, logistics, international development, engineering, economics) is required, and an advanced degree is preferred;
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, and prior experience with the private sector (especially (agricultural) logistics, construction, IT, STEM, AR/VR or engineering) is preferred;
Strong knowledge of Ukraine’s socio-economic context;
Experience in organizational development, management of development programs, and/or complex projects preferred;
Experience in creating grant applications and supplementary document flow is appreciated;
Fluency in Ukrainian and Russian; professional proficiency in English;
Must possess appropriate interpersonal skills to satisfy the requirements of the position.
Must be available to travel 10-25% to various parts of Ukraine.
APPLIED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Conveying complex technical information in an understandable way, communicating effectively through written documents such as emails or memos.
Ability to make quick and informed decisions.
Effective report writing with attention to detail, clear communication and a logical structure.
Prominent level of adaptability to be able to adjust schedules according to shifting project priorities
Effective communication skills to create partnerships, adapt to any situation, and to ensure that managers are informed of essential information in a timely manner.
Ability to handle complex and confidential information with discretion.
Exercises judgment within defined policies and procedures to obtain solutions and perform duties.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
Capable of engaging in collaborative teamwork to ensure appropriate level of teamwork and work sharing both with in team and with project colleagues.
Able to managing grants, complete reporting templates, support confirmation of monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) data collection, and producing documents to a level that they are approved by USAID client.
