WatHab Engineer 1 plans, designs and implements engineering projects within the scope of the ICRC’s water and habitat assistance objectives with supervision and coaching from their hierarchical superior. S/he monitors on-site works, carries out needs assessments and surveys, and plans new projects. S/he has a close working relationship with external stakeholders related to their projects.

Functional Responsibilities:

• Draws up documents (drawings, bills of quantities, contracts, etc.) for engineering projects using approved formats; monitors project implementation for compliance with project documents, ICRC standards, and local building codes/standards, ensuring corrective action is taken where necessary.• Supervises small numbers of contractors working on project sites and conducts quality control of infrastructure installed by the ICRC.• Creates project files in electronic databases (such as the WatHab Project Assistant application) and keeps them up to date.• Prepares implementation/progress reports.• Provides regular information to colleagues on security, stakeholder issues and site progress.• Manages project purchasing on labour and materials according to the delegation's financial rules.• Administers hand-over of ICRC-provided infrastructure to end-users.• Trains or organizes training for end-users in the operation and maintenance of infrastructure installed by the ICRC.• Uses results-based management to evaluate project implementation.• Helps identify needs through assessments and surveys.• Is responsible for on-site follow-up and basic design of complex engineering projects, with supervision and guidance from WatHab Technician 3, WatHab Engineer 2 or 3, or the (Deputy) WatHab Coordinator.• Works within the geographical remit of a sub-delegation or office.• Manages technical support staff.

Collaborate with stakeholders in his/her area of intervention in order to facilitate activities and identify needs.

In collaboration with the area manager and the team leader, contribute to the design and delivery of Shelter / NFI programming in the area of intervention.Ensure compliance with all necessary steps, documentation for the performance of tasks, with the help of control tools.

To comply with the project requirements according to the approved project documentation and the required quality of work (technical conditions and methodology).

Provide technical guidance to related departments and community members as needed.Inform immediately the line manager any delay in planning or technical challenge in the execution of works, any difficulty regarding relations with implementing partners, daily workers, community members or contractors.

Spend most of the working time traveling to different places/locations, considering security requirements, holding meetings with representatives of different fields of activity (need determination, discussion of activity planning, evaluation of the distribution site, etc.) taking into account all safety requirements.

Expand the area of operations by adding other regions/regions and places, in accordance with the whole of the Foundation, as necessary and with security in mind.

Agree to the publication of photos with the activity, without an additional form of consent for the use of photos by the Foundation from each activity In collaboration with line manager and specialists of related departments, support supply chains and coordinate deliveries for Livelihood operations.

In collaboration with the line manager to work accordingly to Fund’s procedures, and report activities in program tools / database established for Shelter / NFI operations.

In collaboration with the area manager and the line manager to support the basic functioning of the division and assist other departments in needs assessments.

Report on the progress of Shelter / NFI activities on a daily basis, by updating database and sharing key information with Line manager.

Planning and implementing of NFI and FI distribution, water trucking, solid waste management tools distribution.

Provide technical support on hygiene promotion to the community volunteers, WASH committee members and health workers.

Liaise and coordinate with community leaders, health workers and related local authorities.

Provide necessary support to WASH Manager through design, plan, liaise, archive, implement and follow-up the detailed implementation work plan for all activities of WASH projects to achieve the project’s objective on time.

Ensure community mobilization is conducted in all field related to water, hygiene and sanitation.

Plan, organize, supervise and evaluate the distribution of all hygiene supplies such as hygiene kits, cleaning kits and solid waste collection tools for IDPs, and host communities.

Responds to emergency calls as needed.

Providing Basic Life Support & Transport of the sick and injured.

Supplies & washes ambulances as needed or directed.

Cleans bays and station as per operations policy.

Tests & checks all equipment assuring all equipment is in a ready mode.
