Communications Officer - Intranet DCA (emply.com)

DanChurchAid (DCA) and Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) Joint Country Programme (JCP) in Ukraine (JCPUA) is looking for a Communications Officer. Duty station for this position will be Kyiv with frequent travel to Mykolaiv and other locations, as and when required.

The Communications Officer will support DCA/NCA Ukraine to meet the communication needs and targets while creating visibility among the general public and specific target audiences. Particular focus will be on outreach to beneficiaries, stakeholders, partners and donors through DCA/NCAs external communication channels. The Communications Officer will furthermore be responsible for community management on DCA/NCA communication channels in cooperation with the line manager.

DCA/NCA Programme in Ukraine

The DCA/NCA Ukraine programme established in 2022 – and a JCP since January 2024 - now has multiple field offices, located in the west, central and southern regions. DCA/NCAs work in Ukraine is centered around two strategic goals: To save lives and build resilient communities. DCA/NCA Ukraine works with survivor and community-led response, infrastructure reestablishment, protection and Humanitarian Mine Action to meet the local humanitarian needs of Ukrainians suffering under the Russian invasion.

Main responsibilities:

· Media Relations: Build and maintain relationships with Ukrainian media outlets, journalists, and influencers to secure media coverage and positive exposure.

· Content Creation: Create engaging content for various platforms, including press releases, articles, blog posts, social media updates, and videos, and ensure they are culturally appropriate and resonate with the target audience.

· Graphic design: Help to create and maintain a streamlined graphic profile for DCA/NCA. This includes support to staff members when graphic design is needed for various tasks. Furthermore, the includes a responsibility to ensure that DCA/NCA adheres to donors’ visibility requirements.

· JCP communication plan implementation: Support the implementation of communication efforts and plans. This includes but is not limited to: translating communication material to Ukrainian from English, publish on external communication channels, keeping updated with relevant UN and other important dates.

· Market Research: Stay updated on trends, news, and policy changes to inform communication strategies and identify emerging opportunities and challenges across the country in Ukraine.

· Team coordination: Supporting staff across Ukraine in their communication and graphic design needs.

· Partner engagement: Building and maintaining relationships with partners and donors to ensure that 1) the communication targets are met, and 2) that DCA/NCA partners communication/media efforts are in line with JCP communication requirements and policies.

· Measurement and Analysis: Monitor the impact of international communication efforts using analytics tools and adjust strategies as needed to achieve goals.

· Compliance and Regulations: Ensure that all international communications adhere to relevant regulations and legal requirements, including data protection and privacy laws.

· Capacity Building: Identifying capacity gaps and providing training and support to DCA/NCA staff and partners to enhance their skills and knowledge related to communication.

Requirements:

· Degree in journalism, communications, marketing, graphic design, or other relevant field.

· Working proficiency in English (B2 level or higher) and fluency in Ukrainian (excellent Ukrainian written communication skills particularly important).

· Ability to produce captivating content on several platforms as well as a good understanding of framing and strategic communication.

· Knowledge of visual production software (InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, etc.) is a strong asset.

· Experience working with communications, graphic design, and social media is desirable.

· Previous experience working in humanitarian or development fields is desirable;

· Creative and innovative thinking as well as flexibility and ability to work independently.

· Ability to work with partners to gather strong case and success stories, testimonies and information on the humanitarian situation.

Starting date is expected to be mid-August but is flexible. Location is in Kyiv, but work-related travels are expected in this position.
