Duties:

Security Analyst is part of the Foreign Service National Investigator (FSNI) Unit of the Regional Security Office (RSO). S/he conducts research and analysis to provide timely and detailed security assessments, including trend analysis and emerging threats. The analyst monitors and conducts research using a variety of mass media sources, both foreign and domestic, and includes social media and blogs, as well as traditional news sources such as print and television. This analysis assists RSO in identifying emerging and existing threats to Chief of Mission (COM) facilities and personnel in Ukraine, as well as support threat investigations originating at post or elsewhere that have a nexus to Ukraine. Additionally, the analyst provides support for travel of COM employees to specially designated conflict areas in eastern Ukraine and the occupied territories, as well as to the Ambassador’s protection detail and other U.S. dignitary protection details as needed.

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three (3) years of experience in law enforcement, military, private or government security, investigations, or threat analysis is required.

EDUCATION: Minimum four (4) year University degree in law, information technology, linguistics/languages, international studies or military is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: — Good working knowledge in social media platforms and Ukrainian media.

• Good working knowledge of current security issues in Ukraine, local and regional extremist groups, local and regional police and security services.
• Good working knowledge of the historical security events and how they may inform possible future events.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to conduct protective operations support with utmost discretion. Ability to draft correspondence and reports in English; must have working skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook applications. Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
