CFO — Head of Accounting and Finance

We are seeking an innovative and highly skilled Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our leadership team. This role is pivotal in steering our financial strategy, ensuring robust financial health, and driving growth.

Position Overview: The CFO will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of Mindly, with a particular focus on bookkeeping and accounting, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), and the implementation and management of automated accounting and financial reporting systems, as well as overseeing legal compliance with EU and international tax regulations. This role is crucial for maintaining financial integrity, compliance, optimizing performance, and supporting our expansion efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Bookkeeping and Accounting:

• Manage and oversee all aspects of bookkeeping and accounting.
• Ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards, including VAT regulations across the EU.
• Handle day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
• Implement and maintain automated accounting reporting systems to streamline processes and enhance accuracy.

2. Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A):

• Develop and manage financial plans, budgets, and forecasts.
• Conduct thorough financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
• Monitor key financial metrics and provide actionable insights to the executive team.
• Prepare and present financial reports to stakeholders, including the board of directors and investors.
• Implement and maintain automated financial reporting systems to streamline processes and enhance accuracy.

3. Automation and Systems Management:

• Lead the automation of accounting processes and financial reporting to efficiently manage high-volume B2C transactions.
• Ensure seamless integration with Payment Service Providers such as Stripe and PayPal.
• Implement systems for automatic categorization and reconciliation of thousands of daily transactions.
• Manage relationships with banks, including Wise, Revolut, and Payoneer.

4. Reporting and Compliance:

• Prepare and submit all required financial reports, including annual reports and VAT reports, to ensure compliance with tax regulations across the EU and globally.
• Ensure timely and accurate filing of all statutory financial statements and tax returns.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local and international tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to facilitate audits and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Develop and implement robust internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial data and reporting.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards and regulations.
• Provide comprehensive financial reporting to the executive team, board of directors, and investors, highlighting key financial metrics and insights.

Qualifications:

• At least 5 years in accounting and FP&A.
• Working for one of the Big Four will be a huge plus.
• Prior experience from EU high growth companies will be a huge plus.
• Experience with EU accounting standards and VAT issues is highly desirable.
• Proven ability to manage accounting and finances for an EU-based company.
• Familiarity with Payment Service Providers (e.g., Stripe, PayPal) and experience in handling large volumes of transactions.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks is a significant advantage.
• Demonstrated experience in automating accounting systems and processes.
• Experience collaborating with external accounting and financial experts from the Big Four (e.g., KPMG).
• Fluent English is a must.
• Solid understanding of International Accounting Standards.

Preferred Experience:

• Prior experience as a CFO is not required, but relevant financial leadership experience is a plus.
• Experience in working with high-growth startups or tech companies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
