Assignment  

The Senior Graphic Designer will lead the creative direction for the design and presentation of IMPACT’s visual outputs, including REACH, AGORA, and PANDA findings. Under the supervision of the IMPACT Reporting and Communications Manager, the Senior Graphic Designer will be responsible for developing innovative visual concepts and designs that effectively communicate complex data and insights to a diverse range of stakeholders, including humanitarian partners, government actors, and local communities. This role will require advanced expertise in design software, creativity, and strategic thinking, as well as the ability to mentor staff and collaborate across teams to ensure design excellence and consistency.

Functions 

1. Design for strategic communication: 

  • Applying core design principles to develop the master slide deck to improve the visualisations of presentations and the best practices on the visual layout of the map; 

  • Generate and present ideas, gain buy-in for the designs with Senior Management Team; 

  • Share knowledge on the link the design principles & research principles and complete the respective learning courses on the HQ learning platform; 

  • Design web pages, strategic presentations, newsletters, and other branded experiences. 

  • Improve the layout and design of the products in line with IMPACT templates and standards; 

  • Design powerful data visualizations including maps, charts, and graphs for outputs & products for high-level stakeholders; 

2. Sustain the brand identity & best practices for external & internal communications & outputs: 

  • Ensuring all work is aligned to the brand identity and design guidelines;  

  • Make and oversee the layout, design, and production of visual materials across a range of media, including digital, print, and presentations. 

  • Creating templates for REACH/IMPACT visibility stuff according to the brand book; 

  • Provide design support to Data Team building dashboards for internal and external stakeholders; 

  • Provide support as requested by Communication Manager. 

3. Drive change & develop best practices mission-wide & serve as a focal point for design: 

  • Conducting relevant research, ideating broadly, developing effective creative solutions, and clearly articulating design rationale. 

  • Creating visual content for social media. Designs for digital elements to include video editing, gif creation & animation. 

  • Provide creative direction and support for the design of high-profile reports; 

4. IMPACT HQ support: 

  • Support HQ office of IMPACT Initiatives in Geneva with their project up to 20% of the workload  

  • Provide capacity-building within allocated timeframe (20%) is requested (within Oleh’s topics of expertise developed) 

  • Provide design of the strategic outputs for IMPACT HQ (e.g. JMMI Guidelines & IMPACT HQ annual report) 

5. Leadership & mentorship: driving adoption of best design practices mission-wide 

  • Coordinating project workflows and communications to meet deadlines; 

  • Together with Communications Manager create and develop Design mentorship program to facilitate the adoption of design best practices and IMPACT design guidelines mission wide 

  • Create an internal mentorship program for Design best practices 

  • Recruit and promote the program internally (1 person from each unit) 

  • Lead on training mentees within next 6 months  

  • Support mentees in setting and achieving design goals fitting their RC objectives, their stakeholders’ data-literacy level to facilitate impactful communication of data findings 

  • Provide feedback regularly (bi-weekly-monthly) as per mentee need 

  • Assess & facilitate & drive lessons learnt session after piloting the mentorship program 

  • Provide capacity building and training and mentor staff on design and layout, visualizations, others. 

 6. Data protection 

  • Adhere to & ensure adherence to all data protections SOP and guidelines 

Experience and skills

  • University level education in graphic design or a relevant field will be considered an advantage; 

  • Advanced proficiency in design, including work related to data visualization, social media design, reports, presentations, and infographics; 

  • Leading and executing multiple design projects simultaneously, and ensuring timely delivery; 

  • Upholding high standards for visual presentation and attention to detail; 

  • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to think critically & analytically 

  • The ability to take on feedback regarding concepts and ideation; 

  • Experience using Power BI or other similar data visualization tools is a good asset; 

  • Expert in Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign 

  • Strong Knowledge in other Adobe software especially After Effects & Premiere Pro 

  • Strong ability to work autonomously; 

  • Fluency in Ukrainian and a working knowledge of spoken and written English is required (and will be assessed via interview); 

  • Flexible and adaptable to deal with change, motivated to work as part of teamwork in a multicultural environment. 

 Conditions  

  • Salary defined by the ACTED salary grid; educational level, expertise, hardship, security, and performance. 

  • Cosy office in the central part of the city. 

  • Flexible working hours. 

  • Medical insurance after 3 months of work. 

  • 28 days of leave and 3 casual leave days
