What we’re building
A multi-role web platform for educational institutions — think complex user flows, role-based access (admins, teachers, students, parents), grade books, scheduling, billing, and real-time communication. Lots of state. Lots of edge cases. Not a landing page.
What you’ll actually do
- Own end-to-end testing across multiple user roles and complex workflows
- Build and maintain Playwright test suites that don’t break every sprint
- Write test cases that reflect real user behavior, not just happy paths
- Catch regressions before they reach production (and before a client does)
- Work closely with devs — flag issues early, describe them clearly, reproduce them reliably
Must-haves
- Experience with Playwright — you’ve set it up, scaled it, debugged flaky tests, and know why waitForSelector is not always the answer
- You’ve used Claude (or similar LLMs) as a working tool in QA — generating test scenarios, parsing docs, writing boilerplate, debugging — not just “tried it once”
- Takes ownership of understanding the product — digs in, asks smart questions, figures things out. Doesn’t blame incomplete docs for gaps in their own product knowledge
- Strong manual testing instincts — automation is your multiplier, not your crutch
- Clear bug reports: steps to reproduce, environment, expected vs actual, evidence
Nice to have
- Experience testing multi-role SaaS (different permissions per user type)
- Familiarity with API testing (REST), basic CI/CD pipeline integration
- Some exposure to EdTech or B2B platforms
Who you are NOT
- Someone who calls themselves a “senior automation engineer” because they recorded a Selenium script in 2021
- Someone who waits for a spec to be perfect before starting
- Someone who can’t understand how something works and calls it a documentation problem
- Someone who disappears for days and calls it “focused work.” We communicate a lot.
What we offer
- Remote-first team
- Real product with real users
- Fast-moving startup energy — decisions happen quickly, priorities shift, and communication is direct and frequent. If you prefer to work in silence and surface once a week with results, this team isn’t for you. We move together, which means staying in the loop, speaking up early, and not going quiet when things get unclear.
- Competitive rate (discussed individually)
