Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF – Doctors Without Borders) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion and natural or man-made disasters to populations in danger in more than 70 countries.

Workplace:
This is a position based in Kyiv coordination office and flying to project location in Vinnytsia.
Main purpose:
Providing psychological support to MSF Locally Hired staff (LHS) according to MSF principles, standards, and procedures to improve the staffs’ mental health.
Staff health psychologist helps employees feel mentally well, stay positive, and deal with challenges so they can be healthy and productive at work.
Main Duties
- With the technical support of the psychologist SHU GVA, elaborate and implement an intervention strategy within a global perspective from the duty of care areas; duty of information, prevention, monitoring and intervention.
- Conduct assessments and provide preventative psychological support to LHS who may be experiencing emotional challenges. To offer a safe and confidential space to discuss their concerns and develop strategies for coping and improve their mental well-being.
- Provide regular psychological group support to LHS according to MSF protocols to improve their mental health well-being.
- Assisting and training LHS members in recognizing and managing stress in the workplace, conduct stress assessments, develop stress reduction programmes, and provide techniques for stress management.
- May facilitate workshops or group interventions to promote a positive work environment and effective collaboration.
- Identify areas in need of improvements, develop and implement interventions to promote mental wellness of our LHS.
- Informing the Line manager about any issues or problems that may arise related to mental health well-being of staff in order to provide the best solution from a medical perspective.
- Map and assess the clinics with psychologists around operations, building network for future collaboration for the psychological care of our LHS.
- On request by MEDCO, provide PFA, for acute Mental Distress following exposure to extremely stressful events when MEDCO deems it urgent. .
- Promote Mental Health Awareness by raising awareness about mental health in the workplace through organizing workshops or training sessions, making sure people know how to maintain good mental health.
- Work with employees to prevent burnout by teaching them how to balance work and rest, manage workloads, and set healthy boundaries.
- Teach employees ways to cope with and reduce stress, like breathing exercises, relaxation techniques, etc.
- On request, support with briefing of newly recruited LHS about psychological care for staff.
- Identify and refer Staff to more specialized and continuous clinical support when/if need
- Design a pathway of intervention according to the identified needs of the staff members to the Staff Health team to be able to keep some measures that will support the staff coping processes.
- Post incidence debriefing of the staff both in the Projects and Kyiv coordination.
- To accomplish the above, plan regular visits to the projects as well as similar time for the staff in Kyiv coordination.
- Ensure an adequate record of the interventions done. Collecting statistics and monitoring data about activities.
- Monthly reporting based on designed report template.
- Ensure that staff information is kept confidential.
MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities
MSF OCG mission in Ukraine has one project located in Vinnytsia oblast and a coordination office in Kyiv. The organisation provides a package of medical care to the staff through a medical Insurance Company including psychological care.
Flying staff health (SH) psychologist is essential to complement psychological support provided through insurance company and build a systematic and integrated approach to staff care in order to maintain staff well-being.
This is a position based in Kyiv coordination office and covering project location in Vinnytsia and any other future location with MSF staff presence in Ukraine.

Education
- Essential degree or diploma in Psychology.
Experience
- Qualified Clinical Psychologist, with master-specialization and preferably experience in trauma management (group and individual).
- Essential 2 years’ experience minimum as a Psychologist.
- Desirable previous experience with MSF or other NGO’s in developing countries.
Languages
- Ukrainian - essential, English language desirable.
Knowledge
- Essential computer literacy (Word, Excel...).
