Rehabilitation Services Development Technical Specialist

Position Summary

Momentum Wheels for Humanity is seeking an Rehabilitation Services Development Technical Specialist, for a 5-year Rehabilitation for Ukraine Activity (USAID Rehab4U). The Rehab4U Rehabilitation Services Development Technical Specialist will provide support in implementation of Rehab 4U Activity (the Activity) designed to create sustainable, quality physical rehabilitation services within the health system. The Rehab4U Rehabilitation Services Development Technical Specialist is responsible for providing coordination and facilitating training activities for rehabilitation professionals, collaboration with international experts regarding rehabilitation best practices as needed for Momentum’s programming, building on ongoing country activities and accomplishments. Additionally, the Rehab4U Rehabilitation Services Development Technical Specialist will monitor the effectiveness of training and mentorship initiatives to continually refine training approaches. The employee must be willing and able to work in Ukraine.

Expected Duties and Responsibilities  

The Rehab4U Rehabilitation Services Development Technical Specialist will work closely with the Rehab4U Objective 2 Manager/Lead to strengthen the capacity of the selected Center of Excellence (CoE) in spinal cord injury (SCI) rehabilitation by implementing a comprehensive training and mentorship program for rehabilitation professionals. Will be responsible for performing the following primary tasks:

Coordination of Training Activities and Improvement of Rehabilitation Services Provision:

• Organize and facilitate training workshops for rehabilitation professionals focusing on best practices in SCI rehabilitation
• Collaborate with international experts to develop and implement training modules
• Lead workshops to analyze the current hospital service delivery model
• Identify areas for improvement and work with the team to implement changes in the management and provision of SCI rehabilitation services
• Assist in the formation of a multidisciplinary team of international experts for on-the-job mentorship
• Foster collaboration between local and international professionals to enhance service delivery
• Develop a comprehensive Training of Trainers (ToT) program tailored for Ukrainian SCI teams
• Create a set of training materials that enable local teams to train others effectively.

Study Tour Coordination:

• Organize and oversee study tours for the multidisciplinary team to specialized centers for exposure to international best practices
• Facilitate discussions and knowledge sharing during the tour
• Initiate implementation of the gained experience and lessons learnt considering the Ukrainian context 

Monitoring, Evaluation, Documentation and Reporting:

• Establish metrics to assess the effectiveness of training and mentorship initiatives
• Collect feedback from participants to continually refine training approaches
• Maintain detailed records of all training sessions, participant feedback, and outcomes
• Prepare regular reports on progress, challenges, and success for stakeholders
• Report to Objective 2 Manager/Lead, providing regular updates on progress and challenges
• Participate in MWH Ukraine team meetings

 Minimum Qualifications

• Education:
  • Degree in Rehabilitation Sciences, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in rehabilitation services, particularly in spinal cord injury.
  • Demonstrated experience in training and capacity building within healthcare settings.
• Skills:
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficient in data analysis and evaluation methods.
