Senior Legal Counsel

Location - Odesa and Chornomorsk, Ukraine  

Position Summary and Key Goals

The Senior Legal Counsel position reports to the Associate General Counsel, EMEA and supports ADM business in Odesa and Chornomorsk.

The key goals are:

• provide capable and timely advice on issues affecting ADM business in Odesa and Chornomorsk and foster a cohesive business environment. 
• identify, assess and mitigate proactively legal risks for the business.
• work in close contact with commercial management and be the first point of contact for the daily legal matters of the business in Odesa and Chornomorsk.
• coordinate claims handling and corporate secretarial work for the business in Odesa and Chornomorsk.

Job Responsibilities

Regulatory

• Advising on regulatory issues related to the production sites in Odesa and Chornomorsk, strong focus on real estate, construction norms as well as food/feed regulations.

Business and Contract law

• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex agreements and other legal documentation.
• Following best market practices and implement them into ADM contracts.
• Providing internal training on changes to legislation for non-lawyers.

Dispute Resolution

• Handling pre-court claims and settlements.
• Developing legal strategy, supervising and managing external counsels in court litigations.

General

• Conducting and supporting communication with public regulatory authorities.
• Communicating with senior management and other ADM locations.
• Legal admin support.

  Job Requirements

• Fully qualified lawyer in Ukraine, preferably member of the bar. 
• At least 7-10 years post-qualification experience in legal area.
• Knowledge and practice of real estate regulations, food and feed regulatory requirements, customs and exports requirements, commercial litigations, good understanding of compliance programs.
• Fluent in English. 
• Ability for cross-functional team work.
• Excellent negotiations skills.
• Verbal and written communication and presentation skills to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organization.
• Ability to familiarize swiftly with unknown areas of law.
• Pragmatic and solution-oriented workstyle.
