We are currently looking for Patient Engagement Manager
Position Overview
The main purpose of the role is to act as a person-to-go for all topics, related to patients/ patient organizations (POs) internally and to be a main point of contact for patients/POs on behalf of Boehringer Ingelheim externally.
Key objective of the role is to foster, initiate and implement at local level the enhancement of patient centricity culture and process and to ensure that patient focus is integrated in all selected focus TAs (pipeline and business indications).
The position is responsible for building strong partnerships with Patient Organizations/Patient Advocacy Groups in selected focus TAs by planning and implementation of collaborative initiatives.
Key Accountabilities
- Identify and establish long-term relationships with local and national patient organizations (POs), active in focus-TAs, according to PE strategy and priorities.
- Maintain a state-of-art PO stakeholder mapping for all focus TAs (pipeline and business indication).
- Identify opportunities with POs, aligned with business priorities and with clear objectives, aimed at collecting patient insights, generating value for patients along the product life cycle and/or improving patient outcomes.
- Align plans & activities with brand teams (and ICPs), ensuring the planned budgets for patient-related activities are accurate and supported cross functionally.
- Provide local leadership, ensure integration of patient centricity approach and patient perspective in local strategies with broader objectives.
- Coordinate initiatives with patients and patient organizations within defined timelines and agreed budget, define and monitor KPIs and adjust projects accordingly when applicable.
- Keep oversight on all PO-related initiatives in the OPU per TA and on the allocated budget.
- Responsible for the approval of local PO engagement activities (together with OPU compliance) also when other roles, functions are initiator.
- Cooperation with other internal functions and external:
- brand teams/ OPU cross-functional teams (Medical, Marketing, Market access, Healthcare Affairs, Public Affairs, Commercial teams).
- other relevant OPU roles/functions (e.g. Compliance, Communication, Regulatory, Patient Safety, Customer Experience etc.).
- regular touch points with regional Patient Engagement Team and Community.
- collaboration with patients and patient organizations and other external stakeholders such as scientific societies, HCPs, 3rd party vendors and agencies.
Required Background & Expertise
- Master’s degree (e.g. MBA, MSc) or diploma degree in Healthcare and Life sciences, Health Economics, Public Health, or other relevant areas.
- At least 5 years of experience in the pharma industry, preferably with previous experience in engaging with Patient Organizations and Patient Advocacy Groups or in related role such as governmental affairs, healthcare affairs, public affairs, communication, etc.
- Experience from a customer facing role in another organization, such as contract research organization, patient organization, non-governmental organization, public organization, governmental organization etc. is a plus.
- Demonstrable track record of leading projects and strategy preparation.
- Knowledge on pharmaceutical products life cycle, local health care environment and legal and policy framework and familiarity with health technology assessment is essential for the role.
