The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral, and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance. About the job 

The ICRC People and Culture Unit seeks a competent Learning & Development (LnD) Trainer to join our team in Kyiv. As a Learning & Development (LnD) Trainer, you will play a key role in shaping the professional growth and performance of staff across the delegation. You will be responsible for organizing, delivering, and supporting high-impact learning initiatives that build critical skills and enhance operational effectiveness. Working closely with staff and subject-matter experts, you will provide guidance and feedback to ensure that training activities are aligned with both the strategic priorities of the Ukraine delegation and the standards set by the Learning Regional Unit (LRU). This is a meaningful opportunity to contribute to a culture of continuous learning, development, and excellence in humanitarian action.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to planning, organization, and facilitation of core institutional and ad hoc training sessions, ensuring timely execution and high-quality delivery
  • Deliver engaging, interactive training modules tailored to staff needs and aligned with ICRC learning objectives
  • Support the coordination of learning programs, including participant selection, venue setup, resource preparation, and liaison with facilitators and subject-matter experts
  • Design and develop learning materials and handouts to support training effectiveness and enhance participant experience
  • Monitor and evaluate training activities, including collecting feedback, conducting satisfaction surveys, and contributing to the continuous improvement of L&D programs
  • Collaborate with and support external training providers, including language instructors and specialized course vendors, ensuring quality and relevance
  • Promote learning opportunities and tools such as iDevelop and iLearn, and provide staff with guidance on how to access and benefit from them
  • Advise staff on training eligibility and development opportunities, fostering a culture of continuous learning across the delegation
  • Contribute to annual planning and the implementation of the L&D strategy, including needs assessments and policy updates.

About you

To be successful as Learning & Development (LnD) Trainer in the People and Culture Unit, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:  

  • Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine
  • University degree, similar qualification or equivalent experience in a learning-related field
  • Minimum two years of experience in training design and delivery
  • Experience with the ICRC is an advantage
  • Professional fluency (written and spoken) in English and Ukrainian
  • Computer literate, including good knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Must undertake specialized training in learning and development delivery within one year of taking on the role
  • Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
  • Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
  • Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary environment
