About the job 

The ICRC Risk & Assurance Unit seeks a highly capable Risk & Assurance Officer to join our team in Kyiv. The Risk & Assurance Officer provides expertise to the risk and assurance team and the delegation and contributes to implementing activities related to the design, implementation, and monitoring of effective risk-management practices and risk-based internal controls.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

• Assists in carrying out day-to-day risk-management and assurance activities
• Provides support in performing risk assessment to identify trends and emerging risks 
• Contributes to clarifying ownership of key risks, assigned with actionable mitigation plans
• Contributes to challenging the effectiveness of risk-management practices and recommends process improvements and automation 
• Contributes to planning control, testing, and monitoring activities 
• Supports the follow up process on any internal control deficiencies reported by the control
• Consolidates and analyzes data and determines trends and emerging risks 
• Contributes to the development and implementation of learning and communication activities 
• Contributes to coordinating the documentation of key process risks and internal 
• May contribute to and provide support in the design, development, and implementation of frameworks, policies, and processes, particularly those identified as high-risk or related to key risks, to ensure accuracy, consistency

About you

To be successful as a Risk & Assurance in the ICRC, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:  

• Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine
• University degree with specialization in risk management and/or internal control
• Qualification as a certified internal auditor, certified fraud examiner, and/or certified information systems auditor is of added value
• Valid Lean Six Sigma is of added value
• At least six to eight years of overall professional experience
• At least four years of work experience in an risk management role, internal control role or audit
• Experience with INGOs, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is a strong asset
• Professional fluency (written and oral) in English and Ukrainian
• Very good computer literacy
• Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
• Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
• Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
• Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary environment
• Confident and with good presentation skills
