Clean Cement Ltd. is a non-profit joint venture between the Ukrainian branch of the international humanitarian organisation Mission East and the circularity expert company Neo-Eco Ukraine. The joint venture was registered on November 21st 2024 with the aim to demonstrate the potential for production and sale of low carbon cement and green concrete. This aim will be pursued through the establishment of a demonstration plant in Pervomaiske hromada in Mykolaiv region that will permit the founding partners to jointly test quality and financial viability of such products, demonstrate and showcasing of this potential to key rebuilding actors in the region thereby promoting and contributing to a greener and more affordable rebuilding of the country. The production will make use of recycled materials - circular economy – and the final product is expected to be cheaper than clinker cement, which will help Ukrainians in their (green) rebuilding efforts. Income gained from the sales of the green products will be used to cover running costs and the expected profit will be donated in-kind in the form of green building materials to support to reconstruction of social infrastructure in the region. With the registration in place, the founding partners are now in search of a Plant Director to take lead on the establishment of the demonstration plant and support the promotion of the green agenda.

 Overall team context and role

The Plant Director will take lead on the plant preparations and manage the daily operation of the plant as line manager to the worker’s Foreman. The Plant Director has the overall responsibility for achievement of the LLC mandate and project output 1: ‘Feasibility of low carbon cement and green concrete production and sale demonstrated in Mykolaiv region’; and for ensuring that all related project activities are implemented. The Plant Director will further take part in the demonstration visits to the plant and participate in the general promotion of usage of circular approaches and green building materials in collaboration with Mission East and NeoEco.

 In the initial stages of the plant operation, the technical support will be provided to the Plant Director by purchase of services from Neo-Eco Ukraine and other relevant local companies with regards to e.g. trainings of workers, sourcing of materials, production flows and verification of produce quality. Similarly, the Board of Directors will support the Plant Director in the recruitment of plant workers, in facilitating implementation of Responsible Business Conduct action plan, and in the planning and conducting of demonstration visits to the plant.

YOU WILL:

  • Take lead on the plant preparations, including arrangements for fencing of premises, access to utilities, obtainment of permits, procurement of equipment, opening of bank accounts, recruitment of workers etc.
  • Facilitate trainings of workers, sourcing of materials, production flows and verification of produce quality in close collaboration with the Board of Directors and founding partners.
  • Plan and supervise the workers’ Foreman in the daily operation.
  • Report progress, challenges and financial results to the Board of Directors and founding partners.
  • Represent Clean Cement Ltd. in external matters including for delegations visiting the demonstration plant and in regional/national/international meetings/conferences.

 YOU HAVE: 

  • Minimum 5 years in manufacturing or construction industry, with machinery involved. This can be food processing, production of goods or construction site or yards.
  • Experience in people management with at least 5 people (operators and technician) reporting directly to you
  • These experience should be relevant to look after productivity, planning, commercial development, quality, safety and human development
  • A proficiency level in English speaking
  • Willingness to be based in or nearby Pervomaiske hromada in Mykolaiv region
  • General knowledge on circular economy & approaches and green building materials
