Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, media and communications or another related field
- Design skills desirable
- Journalism experience is highly desirable
- At least one experience in communications or journalism and humanitarian work
- Strong communication skills, ability to write impactful, media-friendly copy in English
- Good risk management experience
- Ability to work in difficult, insecure and stressful conditions
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically, manage workload and meet deadlines
- Proven field communications experience in emergency settings and/or fragile contexts
- Full adherence to World Vision Child Protection, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies
- English language fluency
- 50% office work / 50% field based work
Responsibilities
Strategy and Advocacy Support
- Support the UCR Advocacy and Communications Manager and Communications Coordinator in the implementation of the Ukraine Crisis Response media and communications strategy in Ukraine.
- Work with the broader UCR Comms team to develop and manage the annual communication plan.
- Build relationships with relevant advocacy and communication actors (media, donors, UN humanitarian, partners, working groups) in Ukraine who reach out to World Vision for inputs and opinion as a valuable expert on matters of protection of children and civilians.
Media and Partner Relations
- Working closely with the Communications Coordinator, develop and maintain professional relationships with the media, partner communications teams and build relationships for different media houses in Ukraine.
- Help ensure that World Vision UCR field staff are aware of and abide by the World Vision Media Engagement Policy, including organising media briefings and trainings for UCR staff.
- Monitor news coverage concerning or affecting World Vision’s UCR in Ukraine including reports from local language media outlets.
Visit Management and Content Production
- Helps manage all requests and updates from World Vision Support Offices on Content Flow and other communication coordination channels.
- Regular submission of quality content including stories, photos, videos and other relevant resources.
- Helps organize the facilitation of media and VIP visits to project locations within Ukraine guided by the Communications Director.
