CONTEXT

Three MdM (Doctors of the World) chapters are directly implementing activities in Ukraine: 

  • MdM Spain has the lead for global MdM repsonse in the country and covers Kiev and surroundings, Donbass, Kharkiv, Zaporidja
  • MdM Germany covers Dnipro and Vinitsia
  • MdM France covers the Southern part, Odessa, Mykolaiv, Kherson

In Mykolaiv oblast, MdM-F supports Mykolaiv Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) in restoring access to primary health care and Mental Health and Psychosocial Services (MHPSS) for populations affected by the conflict. The component of sexual and reproductive health, as well as Gender Based Violence is part of this project.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

The Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Officer has a role in the implementation and follow-up of the different Mental Health and Psycho-Social Support (MHPSS) activities in Ukraine.  

Key responsibilities:

  • Implementing MHPSS activities as planned within project proposals in coordination with and under technical supervision of MHPSS Advisor.
  • Assisting the MHPSS advisor in training and supervision of clinical staff and non-clinical workers whenever necessary in order to enhance scope of MHPSS activities.
  • Collecting qualitative and quantitative monitoring data about MHPSS activities. 

WORKING RELATIONSHIP

  • Hierarchical &Functional link: MHPSS Advisor. 

DUTIES AND TASKS 

  • Carrying out MHPSS activities in programs and projects of MDM-Fr in cooperation with other MHPSS team members and under supervision of MHPSS Advisor.
  • Planning and conducting individual and group sessions and psychoeducation with indictive topics with children, adolescents, adult and elderly members of communities.
  • Carrying out evaluation of mental health and psychosocial needs of beneficiaries. 
  • Supporting the adaptation of MHPSS interventions for GBV survivors, survivors of violence and most vulnerable persons and groups among beneficiaries. 
  • Providing inputs for development of mental health and psychosocial support related contents and materials adapted to variety and changing needs of beneficiaries. 
  • Contributing to the development of MHPSS training material.
  • Supporting the MHPSS Advisor in providing training and supervision.
  • Participating in multidisciplinary teams and meetings at the level of the mission and with relevant partners. 
  • Overviewing data collection on MHPSS activities in the field, recording and reporting. 
  • Any other tasks as needed.

SKILLS REQUIRED

Training, Skills & Experience

  • A Master’s university degree in psychology.
  • Additional training in psychotherapy, PFA, basic counselling skills and trauma-informed approach.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant and clinical experience in MHPSS after graduation.
  • Experience in programs in humanitarian emergency context in Ukraine including with international organization or other humanitarian organization.
  • Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams in MHPSS.
  • Experience in psychological and psychosocial assessment and practice in individual and group formats, with children, adolescents, adults, and elderly.
  • Experience in working with the most vulnerable, war-affected, displaced and host populations, survivors of violence, survivors of GBV.
  • Experience to create relationships with the communities especially in rural highly war-affected areas. 
  • Experience in developing training materials and training implementation.
  • Ability to implement tools and monitoring process in coordination with implementing partners.

  • Type of contract: fixed type contract
  • Duration: 6 months (possibility for extension)
