«Save Ukraine» is the largest humanitarian organization dedicated to supporting families in Ukraine.

Founded in 2014, Save Ukraine’s mission is to protect children and families affected by the war. Our activities are aimed at helping the most vulnerable Ukrainians: orphans, children with disabilities, internally displaced persons and victims of violence. We evacuate families from the frontline and from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. We are the only humanitarian organization that regularly organizes rescue missions to return forcibly deported children to Ukraine. «Save Ukraine» brings together dozens of organizations and hundreds of volunteers to help those affected by the war and rebuild their lives.

Currently, the Save Ukraine team is looking for Cybersecurity Specialist.

The Cybersecurity Specialist will play a critical role in protecting the digital infrastructure and sensitive data of the Save Ukraine team, focusing on secure systems and technologies that support rescue operations and the search for stolen children. This role demands a highly motivated individual capable of developing and implementing security measures for mission-critical systems, ensuring secure communications, and protecting sensitive information related to vulnerable populations.

This position requires a deep understanding of cybersecurity in high-risk humanitarian contexts and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams working on high-priority rescue and reunification missions.

Key Responsibilities

1. System and Network Security for Humanitarian Missions

  • Design and maintain robust security protocols for systems used in child recovery efforts and rescue missions.
  • Secure communications for teams coordinating search and rescue operations, including encryption and anonymity measures.
  • Monitor network activity for potential threats to sensitive operations.

2. Data Protection for Vulnerable Populations

  • Ensure the security and confidentiality of sensitive information, including children’s personal data, family details, and mission reports.
  • Develop secure methods for collecting, storing, and sharing data with authorized parties.
  • Implement safeguards against unauthorized access to databases used for locating and tracking children.

3. Incident Management in High-Stakes Scenarios

  • Respond to cybersecurity incidents that could disrupt child search efforts or compromise critical information.
  • Develop rapid response protocols for breaches involving sensitive rescue mission data.
  • Coordinate with law enforcement and relevant authorities on cybersecurity matters tied to recovery operations.

4. Risk Management in Sensitive Operations

  • Conduct risk assessments for digital tools used in locating stolen children.
  • Identify vulnerabilities in systems connected to field operations or collaborative efforts with external agencies.
  • Design mitigation strategies that ensure operational continuity in high-risk environments.

5. Collaboration with Child Protection Teams

  • Work closely with child protection and rescue teams to identify their digital security needs.
  • Provide real-time cybersecurity support during coordinated recovery efforts.
  • Develop tailored training for field teams on secure communication and data handling protocols.

6. Secure Technology Integration for Search Missions

  • Oversee the secure implementation of systems such as facial recognition, GIS tracking, and case management tools.
  • Evaluate and secure third-party platforms used in cross-border child recovery efforts.
  • Ensure redundant and encrypted backup systems for critical mission data.

7. Documentation and Reporting for Donors and Stakeholders

  • Maintain detailed records of cybersecurity measures, incidents, and improvements related to child search missions.
  • Prepare regular reports highlighting risks, security status, and operational achievements.
  • Ensure compliance with donor expectations and international data protection standards.

Qualifications

  • Application Security and Network Security skills
  • Cybersecurity and Information Security knowledge
  • Experience in Cybersecurity practices
  • Strong understanding of security protocols
  • Ability to analyze security risks and develop response procedures
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH) are a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field

Conditions:

  • Competitive salary level;
  • Hybrid work schedule;
  • Work in a creative team, in a field that changes people’s lives

We offer the opportunity to contribute to charity and join an ambitious team that changes lives! If you are ready to develop with us, we are waiting for your CV.
