Medici per i Diritti Umani - MEDU is an international humanitarian organization committed to delivering quality health and mental health support to vulnerable populations affected by conflict and crisis. In Ukraine, we are implementing programs focused on primary healthcare, psychosocial support, and mental health services in both urban and rural areas affected by the ongoing conflict.
Position Summary
MEDU is seeking a Psychologist with expertise in mental health to conduct the MHPSS (Mental Health and Psychosocial Support) activities of a project funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) to support the Ukrainian population.
Role: PSYCHOLOGIST
Duty station: Dnipro with travel to Kharkiv.
Contract terms: 12-month continuous and coordinated collaboration agreement. FOP Contract
Salary: 900-1.000 Euros on the basis of the candidate's experience
Starting date: As soon as possible
Contract Nature: FOP (private Entrepreneur)
RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAIN ACTIVITIES
Technical Coordination and Supervision
Training and Capacity Building
- Deliver 16 hours of MHPSS training to non-specialized staff, including early detection of psychological distress, basic trauma-informed approaches, stress management, burnout prevention, Psychological First Aid (PFA), and humanitarian standards.
- Provide 18 hours of clinical supervision and on-the-job coaching to non-specialized PHCC staff.
- Adapt training materials to the local context under the guidance of the Clinical Coordinators.
- Ensure that training content is aligned with national recommendations and IASC MHPSS Guidelines.
Coordination and Technical Support
- Collaborate closely with the Clinical Coordinators and international experts responsible for specialist-level training.
- Support communication with PHCC management, local partners, and the Kharkiv Department of Health.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in Psychology or Clinical Psychology.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a practicing psychologist.
- Experience in MHPSS, trauma-informed care, or capacity building with adults.
- Strong skills in training, facilitation, and clinical supervision.
- Understanding of trauma, stress-related disorders, and burnout.
- Fluency in Ukrainian and/or Russian; basic English is an asset.
- High degree of autonomy, responsibility, and initiative
OTHER DESIRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Postgraduate training in Human Rights, Project Management, Immigration Law
- Experience working with or coordinating partner organizations or local NGOs
- Previous work experience with non-profit organisations in the social-healthcare or mental health fields
- Previous experience working in conflict-affected areas or insecure contexts.
- Knowledge of PCM (Project Cycle Management)
- Knowledge of the Italian language
