 Job Summary: 

Under supervision of the Logistics Officer, the driver is responsible for ensuring safe transportation of FHI 360 employees and supplies, as well as vehicle maintenance.    

Accountabilities: 

  • Provide secure and timely transportation for employees and materials. 

  • Operate the vehicle safely and responsibly, in full compliance with local traffic laws and organizational security guidelines. 

  • Conduct daily vehicle checks to ensure mechanical reliability and roadworthiness. 

  • Monitor and track vehicle service intervals and preventive maintenance schedules; notify the Logistics Officer well in advance of upcoming service needs 

  • Promptly report any technical or safety issues to the Logistics Officer. 

  • Manage fuel usage responsibly and submit requests in advance to avoid operational delays. 

  • Record fuel consumption accurately and submit receipts immediately after refueling. 

  • Complete vehicle logbooks immediately before departure and upon arrival at the destination and collect passenger signatures; provide accurate recording of odometer readings, travel dates, times, routes, and destinations. 

  • Ensure that all supporting documentation (fuel receipts, passenger waivers, etc.) is properly completed and submitted. 

  • Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections using the approved checklist. 

  • Follow FHI 360 and Ukraine government protocol on accident reporting 

  • Report incidents related to the vehicle to the Logistics Officer promptly. 

  • Maintain transparency and timely communication with the Logistics Officer to ensure proper handling of all vehicle-related matters. 

  • Keep the vehicle clean and presentable at all times, both inside and out.  

  • Safeguard vehicle registration documents, insurance papers, and keys at all times. 

  • Ensure the vehicle is securely parked when not in use, with all doors locked and valuables removed or concealed. 

  • Uphold the organization’s policies at all times 

  • Take responsibility for any traffic fines or penalties incurred while operating the vehicle. 

  • Assist the team with logistical activities such as loading, unloading, and transporting materials or equipment. 

  • Conduct minor on-site repairs and ensure vehicle preparedness for field operations and emergency response. 

  • Any other tasks assigned by supervisor 

 Applied Knowledge & Skills: 

  • Communicate in a clear, positive manner with clients and staff.  

  • Proficient in local traffic laws 

  • Proficient in vehicle maintenance 

  • Able to work in a multi-cultural environment 

Problem Solving & Impact: 

  • Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies to select methods and techniques to obtain results. 

Supervision Given/Received: 

  • Regularly interacts with staff of all levels 

  • Communicates regularly with security staff  

Education:  

  • Must have a trade test certificate, a valid driving license and a clean driving record. 

Experience:  

  • 1-3 years of related driving experience. 

  • Experience in the operation of large vehicles; or an equivalent combination of experience and training. 

  • Experience in a similar job with a non-governmental organization or UN preferred. 

  • Fluent in Ukrainian and working knowledge of English. 

Typical Physical Demands: 

  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time. 

  • Ability to lift 5 - 50 lbs. 

  • Ability to travel to remote field site locations that lack basic essentials.  

Technology to be Used: 

  • Computer, Microsoft Office 365 (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail), office telephone, cell phone and printer/copier.
