Position Purpose
In close collaboration and under direct supervision of Health officer/Medical coordinator, supporting implementation of the field activities on the Local level. Assists in implementing the EACAP and DosProgram’s approved Health Sector Strategy. Being responsible for implementation of Health Sector medical activities and resources in the assigned territorial level, in accordance with all DoS and Project HOPE policies, with consideration of international and national protocols, in order to ensure the delivery of quality medical care for patients and their communities as well as to improve the health condition and humanitarian living conditions of the target population.
Main Responsibilities
- Respond to humanitarian emergencies under the direct supervision of the line manager.
- Assist in the assessment of health and humanitarian needs in the existing context.
- Assess the health care needs of hospitals and other medical institutions in various locations and exchange information with the immediate supervisor.
- Assist in setting up and creating mobile medical units.
- Develop plans for the distribution of medical supplies for medical institutions that are program determined and/or appeared in need
- Support the health care team and the warehouse team in the development of medical kits and preparation of the distributions to medical institutions.
- Assist in monitoring and supervising hospitals and primary care facilities through visits and exchange of findings with the immediate supervisor, as the security situation allows.
- Assist in organization of trainings for medical personnel to build capacity and ensure maximum use of their skills.
- Assist in the timely preparation of project reports arid ensure the collection of relevant medical data.
- Any other tasks at the request of the immediate supervisor or the appointed person.
- Identify other potential response activities or anticipated response needs, including deployment of mobile medical teams, support to volunteer groups, provision of surge support to local medical facilities, etc.
- Apply and introduce innovative approaches and good practices to build the capacity of partners and stakeholders, and to support the implementation and delivery of concrete and sustainable program results.
- Participate in discussions with national partners, clients and stakeholders to promote health and development issues, especially in the areas of gender, emergency preparedness, maternal and neonatal health, and development, health system strengthening.
- Actively support programs/projects through field visits, surveys and/or exchange of information with partners/stakeholders to identify bottlenecks, potential problems and take timely decisions to resolve issues and/or refer to relevant officials for timely resolution.
- Liaise with representatives of organizations to ensure all activities are carried out with necessary approvals and proper coordination.
- Coordinate with UN agencies and other civil society groups, including Ukrainian and international non-governmental organizations.
- Provide regular situational analyses covering security, health and humanitarian updates.
- Provide inputs on budgetary needs for current and planned relief activities.
Educational background: University degree/bachelor’s degree in medicine or Nursery, Public health, Pharma.
Years of Experience:
- Finished internship if applicable to profession.
- Not less than 3 years of practical work in Ukraine medical sector.
- Any NGO experience – will be considered as a privilege.
Language Skills : Ukrainian – fluent. Fluency in English and excellent writing skills are required, minimum English requirement: B2/C1
