Senior Database Administrator (SQL Server)

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Database Administrator to manage and oversee the administration of Microsoft SQL Server environments.

This role requires expert-level proficiency in SQL Server management, including installation, performance tuning, high availability solutions, and advanced troubleshooting.

Please note that remote work is available only for candidates based in Ukraine.

Responsibilities

• Specify and size new database servers appropriately based on project requirements
• Install, configure, and upgrade SQL Server software and associated products
• Apply SQL patches promptly to ensure system security and stability
• Monitor and maintain database health and availability to minimize downtime
• Enforce security policies and access controls consistent with the principle of least privilege
• Ensure effective backup and recovery solutions align with RTO and RPO objectives
• Monitor and optimize database performance, including indexing and query execution
• Perform index maintenance, consistency checks, and log usage analysis
• Restore lower-level environments from production backups as required
• Collaborate with third-party vendors when applying system patches or software updates
• Support other teams in resolving SQL Server-related performance issues
• Assist with programming challenges in non-IT teams, such as RMS
• Manage and resolve DBA-related tickets from the Service Desk
• Administer related environments, including MDS, SSAS, SSIS, SSRS, and Power BI
• Automate routine database administration tasks using T-SQL and PowerShell

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in MS SQL Server administration, covering versions 2016 and up
• Knowledge of advanced SQL Server features, such as Columnstore, Querystore, Extended Events, and Partitioning
• Expertise in performance tuning, query execution plan analysis, and wait statistics
• Background in clustering and multi-site availability groups
• Familiarity with Cohesity and CommVault backup solutions for availability groups
• Skills in automating DBA practices using T-SQL and PowerShell
• Understanding of SCOM and ITIL standards
• Certification in SQL Server (Microsoft certification preferred)
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher
