Position Summary 

The Consultant will be responsible for developing, advising, and teaching a course on Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) for healthcare professionals, including physical therapists. The course will integrate national regulatory requirements and international best practices to enhance clinical decision-making skills based on scientific evidence.

Detailed Responsibilities

The Consultant for the Preparation and Teaching of a Course on Evidence-Based Practice shall assume the following specific responsibilities for the length of the consultancy:

Task 1: Course Development and Implementation

Curriculum Development:

Develop a comprehensive course curriculum on Evidence-Based Practice tailored to healthcare professionals in Ukraine, including physical therapists and rehabilitation specialists.

Content Design:

Prepare teaching materials, case studies, and interactive content, ensuring they are up-to-date with the latest research methodologies and evidence-based practices in healthcare.

Collaboration:

Work closely with educational institutions and organizations to ensure the course aligns with national healthcare education standards and international guidelines.

Review and Feedback:

Provide reviews of course progress and implement improvements based on participant feedback.

Task 2: Training and Support

Lectures:

Deliver a series of lectures on Evidence-Based Practice, focusing on clinical research methodologies and the application of evidence in day-to-day medical decision-making.

Consulting Support:

Offer consulting services to healthcare institutions and educational entities in the integration of EBP into their programs.

Mentorship:

Mentor healthcare professionals and students in applying evidence-based approaches in their fields.

Task 3: Documentation and Reporting

Reporting:

Provide monthly progress reports detailing the development and implementation of the course, significant accomplishments, and any challenges faced.

Provide inputs to monthly, quarterly, and/or ad hoc donor and internal reports, ensuring that reporting is accurate and timely.

Produce succinct monthly report that highlights significant accomplishments of duties during the reporting period, issues encountered, and proposed recommendations to address identified issues. 

Final Report:

Submit a comprehensive final report at the end of the consultancy period, summarizing the course outcomes and recommendations for future improvements

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • PhD in Pediatric Anesthesiology and Critical Care or a related medical field.
  • MD with honors from a recognized medical institute.
  • Additional certifications in clinical research methodology, evidence-based medicine, and pharmaceutical clinical trials are highly desirable.

Experience:

  • At least 10+ years of professional experience in medical advisement, particularly in the fields of anesthesiology, critical care, or stroke treatment.
  • Experience as an associate professor or lecturer in medical education, focusing on public health, evidence-based medicine, or clinical research.
  • Strong background in managing medical education projects and scientific publishing.
  • Proven track record of leadership in clinical research, medical publications, or pharmaceutical company roles.
  • Experience in advisory roles within international medical or educational projects is an advantage.

Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of evidence-based medicine and clinical research methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and editorial skills, particularly in medical writing and publishing.
  • Experience with organizing workshops, teaching, and lecturing on medical and clinical topics.
  • Ability to manage and advise on scientific projects and collaborations.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess the quality of medical care and clinical trials.

Additional Competencies:

  • Membership in professional medical associations, such as the Ukrainian Anti-Stroke Association and European Stroke Organization.
  • Strong commitment to advancing medical education and improving healthcare practices.
  • Fluency in English and Ukrainian is essential; Russian language skills are advantageous.
  • Proficiency in managing medical editorial boards and publications.
