About us

The HALO Trust is the world's oldest and largest humanitarian mine action organisation with 8,500 staff in 28 countries and territories. We lead the effort to protect lives and restore livelihoods for those affected by conflict. We remove landmines and make safe other weapons such as cluster bombs, stockpiles of small arms and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Since the beginning of operations in Ukraine in early 2016, HALO has grown into the largest international mine action operator in the country.

HALO currently employs approximately 1200 national staff across the Kyiv oblast, conducting survey and marking of hazardous areas, risk education, and clearance operations. HALO in Ukraine is going through a period of large expansion and scaling up its operations across Ukraine, both in terms of geographical locations and staff numbers.

We are looking for a team player with relevant experience in companies with 500+ employees in the financial department for the accounting and payroll department.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in the field of payroll, preferably in an international non-governmental organization.
  • Experience in large enterprises from 500 people.
  • Good organizational skills and diligent attention to details associated with documenting expenses.
  • Written and spoken proficiency in Ukrainian, English (from Level A2).
  • Knowledge of MS Office including MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong organisational, planning, prioritising and administrative skills, ability to self-direct in a fast-paced, multi-task environment.
  • Credible finance professional with strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective relationships at all levels of the organisation.

Responsibilities:

  • Reception, analysis, and control of timesheets, preparing them for payroll processing.
  • Accrual and payment of advance salary.
  • Accrual and payment of regular salaries, including allowances, bonuses, deductions, and payments for civil contracts.
  • Accrual and payment of vacation and training expenses, as well as calculation and payment upon dismissal.
  • Accrual and accounting for sick leave, including work with social insurance protocols and applications.
  • Reporting on sick leave.
  • Accrual and payment of allowances and per diems.
  • Preparing reports on per diems and employee reimbursements, collecting signatures, and archiving documents.
  • Uploading salary payments into the bank system.
  • Calculation and payment of taxes, insurance contributions, and other deductions from wages.
  • Reporting income tax and social security contributions to the tax office and suppliers (non-companies).
  • Ensuring accurate recording of wage accruals and payments in accounting software, registering accounting entries in 1C.

Advantages:

  • At least 3 years of professional experience in the field of payroll, preferably in an international non-governmental organization.
  • English (from Level A2).

Terms and Conditions:

  • Office in Brovary. Official employment.
  • Working hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00-17:00, one hour lunch break (40 hours per week).
