About the job 

The ICRC Forensic Unit recruits a Forensic Programme Assistant to be based in its Odesa office, with frequent travel to Mykolaiv and Kherson regions. The Forensic Programme Assistant is part of the Forensic Team within the ICRC delegation in Ukraine and works under the technical supervision of the Forensic Specialist. 

Start date: as soon as possible 

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of the forensic program in Ukraine, particularly by providing technical and administrative support for forensic activities at the Odesa Sub-delegation
• Organize the logistics and prepare materials for forensic activities such as training courses, workshops and the safe and dignified management of deceased persons
• Ensure that Odesa Sub-delegation has relevant forensic dissemination materials and publications
• Participate in forensic related meetings, briefings and training sessions for relevant internal and external stakeholders
• Provide regular forensic updates by oral and written reports on forensic related matters; prepare minutes of meetings and mission reports
• Prepare minutes of meetings and mission reports
• Maintain and organize records for archiving, monitoring and reporting, using the institutional tools
• Disseminate ICRC information/messages on forensic science and forensic action in humanitarian settings
• Translate and interprets written documents and oral correspondences between English, Ukrainian as needed

About you

To be successful as a Forensic Programme Assistant in the Forensic Unit, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:   

• Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine
• Diploma or bachelor’s degree or equivalent in medicine, administrative sciences, criminalistics, biological or forensic related sciences
• At least 3 years of professional work experience in a related field of activity 
• Fluent command in English, both written and oral, Ukrainian and Russian
• Excellent computer skills
• Good writing and communication skills
• Working experience in Institutions of the Ukrainian medico legal system an asset
• Skilled in the following competencies: Teamwork & Collaboration, Beneficiary & Client focused
• Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
• Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
• Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision
• Confidence in managing projects and staff

• Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary environment
