Position Title: Area Security Assistant

Duty Station: Balakliya, Izyum District, Kharkivska Oblast

Type of Appointment: 13.12.2024 with the possibility of extention

Estimated Start Date: 01 June 2024

Closing Date: 22 May 2024 but applications will be reviewed on rolling basis and position could be assigned prior to closing date if we find a suitable candidate

Salary: 45 000 UAH gross

About MAG in Ukraine:

Since the Russian invasion of 24th February, Ukraine has been subjected to heavy artillery bombardment, missiles, and air strikes, as well as the use of landmines and cluster munitions. The scale of the conflict and the use of high impact and indiscriminate weapons requires an urgent and extensive response.  MAG seeks to save lives and build safer futures by providing risk education to communities, to help them stay safe. MAG is also in the process of seeking accreditation to start conducting explosive ordnance disposal and demining activities in Ukraine, to save the lives of people affected by the conflict. 

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Support the Country Security Team on day-to-day security management aspects of MAG Ukraine. 
 

Detailed Responsibilities

• Keeping the Security team of any relevant developments in the area that could impact programming
• Creating a strong working relationship with MAG operations teams to help support them with security updates, advise and trainings where relevant
• Monitoring of Security situation and reporting on the status of air alarms for the area – support on maintaining an air alarm threat level reporting system
• Reporting any safety issues to the security department and the Health and Safety department and facilitate implementation where required
• Security focal point in Balakliya for site security services and reporting non-compliance to security department
• Supporting Community Liaison and clearance teams with local risk assessments and access support 
• Keeping the team(s) updated on road conditions, access restrictions or other relevant changes in area context
• Support on ensuring that MAG facilities in Balakliya, like the office and guest houses, have adequate security measures in place and are being followed
• Undertake any other security-related duties appropriate to the post as may be required
• Represent MAG security department with external partners such as NGO’s and the authorities
• Contribute to the update and facilitation of security trainings

General Responsibilities

• Ukrainian and Russian Fluent, English is a plus but not required
• Adaptable personality
• Good working ethic and dedication to tasks
• Good time management skills
• Ability to work autonomously
• Computer skills – Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams, Sharepoint, etc.
• Working knowledge of mapping software such as Google Earth is a plus.
• Good communication skills and ability to work well with others.

ABOUT YOU:

We are seeking a candidate with:

• Experience of a minimum of 1-2 years with NGOs or international organizations in a position related with security, context and/or representation
• Education degree in political sciences, international relations, security, or related Fields is a plus, or equivalent background acquired through professional experience, former military and/or law enforcement experience is a plus.
• Basic analytical skills and ability to compile and share information in concise manner
• Representation skills and able to network across a variety of stakeholders.
• Demonstrated communication and organizational skills.
• Flexibility and ability to multi-task under pressure.
• Willingness to work and live in often remote areas under basic conditions.
• Proven ability to work creatively and independently both in the field and in the office.
• Fluent in Ukrainian, Russian.  English is a plus, but not required.
• Basic computer skills in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint programs.        Google Maps/Earth experience is a plus.
• Reliable transportation to/from assigned work location such as office.

Обов`язки:

• Інформувати групу безпеки про будь-які відповідні події в області, які можуть вплинути на діяльність організації;
• Взаємодія з операційними групами MAG, оновлення данних щодо безпеки, надання порад і проводження тренінгів;
• Моніторинг безпекової ситуації регіоні, підтримки системи звітності про рівень загрози під час повітряних тривог;
• Повідомлення про будь-які проблеми щодо безпекової ситуації у відділ безпеки, відділ охорони здоров’я та безпеки;
• Інформування команди (команд) про стан доріг, обмеження доступу чи інші відповідні зміни в певній місцевості;
• Підтримка та забезпечення об’єктів MAG у Балаклії, такі як офіс і гостьові будинки, мали релевантні заходи безпеки та контролювалися;
• Виконувати будь-які інші доручення пов'язані з безпекою, що відповідають зазначеній посаді, у разі їх необхідності.

   ПРО ВАС:

Ми шукаємо кандидата:

• Досвід роботи: від 1-го до 2-х років у напрямку безпекової діяльності міжнародних / гуманітарних організацій;
• Освіта у напрямку політичних наук, міжнародних відносин, або суміжних областях, або набутий практичний військовий / правоохоронний досвід - буде перевагою.
• Вільне володіння українською мовою (знання англійської – буде перевагою)
• Базові навички роботи з комп’ютером у програмах Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook та PowerPoint. Робота з Google Maps/Earth є плюсом.
• Аналіз інформаційних джерел, стислий та зрозумілий виклад матеріалу
• Комунікативні та організаційні навички
• Здатність до гнучкості та мультизадачності
• Ініціативність, самостійність, відповідальність
