Pharmacy Associate, Chernivtsi

Context of intervention

MdM is an international humanitarian organization whose mission is to provide medical care for the most vulnerable populations, the world over. It seeks to stimulate voluntary commitment from doctors, other health care providers, and from those whose expertise in other fields is needed for its activities, to enlist all competent support required for the achievement of its projects, and to always seek to encourage close working relationships with populations in its care. In Ukraine, MdM Spain implements the project activities in close cooperation with the relevant authorities, public health facilities and communities.

MdM has been operating in Ukraine since August 2015 and is currently implementing an emergency response and recovery program in different regions in Ukraine. The program is implemented around two main components: direct provision of services through multidisciplinary mobile units (including primary healthcare services (PHC), sexual and reproductive health (SRH), Mental Health and Psychosocial support services (MHPSS)); and  strengthening of local health system (with a specific focus on PHC, SRH, MHPSS and GBV) through capacity building of health and non-health staff, awareness raising and the provision of medical equipment, consumables and medicines.

 General objective of the position:

Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacy Manager and technical guidance of the Health Coordinator, the Pharmacy Associate is responsible by the health warehouse implementation and management.

Based in Chernivtsi, Ukraine, the Pharmacy Associate will support with the implementation of a centralized health warehouse, based on the Good Storage Practices (GSP) and Good Distribution Practices (GDP), from where health commodities from international and national sources will be received, stored and distributed to the different recipients across MdM’s mission in Ukraine.

The Pharmacy Associate will be responsible for ensuring adequate environmental conditions of the warehouse (humidity & temperature), compliance with pest control and supervision of the cleaning process (to be executed by dedicated cleaners). Moreover, the Pharmacy Associate will prepare stock in & out, quarantine & destruction protocols and propose improvements on the health warehouse structure and protocols.

 Specific Objectives of the position:

Objective 1: Implementation of health warehouse

• Support the ongoing implementation on the premises
• Support the ongoing implementation of stock management

Objective 2: Manutention of health warehouse

• Housekeeping the environmental conditions
• Compliance with Ukrainian Law on health stock management

Objective 3: Collaborate on the health strategy

• Support on a standardized pharmaceutical strategy
• Serve as centralized information management of health commodities stock

Other

• Follow and mainstream MdM standards regarding prevention from sexual exploitation and abuse, harassment, gender sensitivity, and child protection policies.
• Follow and respect security rules, polices, and decisions.
• Available to respond to any emergency at any time within the scope of the position.
• Any other task assigned by line manager.

Position and profile requirements:

Educational background - Health 

Professional experience - Entry position

Technical experience - Full graduation on any health subject

Personal skills  - English fluent (mandatory), Ukrainian fluent

Humanitarian experience - Preferred, not mandatory

Mobility - Based in Chernivtsi

Computer skills - very Good knowledge of office tools (MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint)
