Job Title: Field Officer – Education
Location: Sumy, Ukraine (smart working + regular travel within the city/region)
Contract Duration: 8 months
Start Date: October 21, 2024

Objective:
Within the framework of the initiative AID 012832/01/0 "Emergency Initiative for the Population Affected by the Conflict in Ukraine and Neighboring Countries," funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, the association Fondazione Progetto Arca, an Italian NGO operating in Ukraine, is seeking one Field Officer – Education in Sumy Oblast. The selected candidate will implement educational activities within the project 26/UCR/012832. The project includes the reconstruction and refurbishment of shelters in public schools in Sumy Oblast, particularly in the city of Sumy. This initiative will enable schools to continue in-person classes in safe environments and provide adequate and welcoming refuge spaces for the school community. Additionally, the project features a component dedicated to non-formal educational activities, to be carried out in collaboration with our project partners.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Education Context Monitoring and Assessment:

• Monitor and assess the education context, focusing on educational facilities (shelters in schools, open-air spaces) in Sumy Oblast and the city of Sumy.
• Conduct needs assessments in the schools and kindergartens designated for the project.
• Support the Project Manager in liaising with local education services and relevant institutions to determine optimal resource allocation.
• Provide periodic quantitative and qualitative analyses, reports on activities, achievements, and lessons learned.
• Participate, if requested by the Project Manager, in meetings organized by OCHA in the education sector.
• Research suppliers and companies for the establishment and reconstruction of school shelters.

2. Educational Activities:

• Assist in designing and delivering sensitization activities and non-formal education activities for students in collaboration with project partners.
• Disseminate cross-cutting educational materials to the schools involved in the project.

Required Skills and Competencies:

• Excellent knowledge of the territory and social context of the Oblast.
• Familiarity with tools for monitoring, administration, and needs assessment of international cooperation projects.
• Experience with NGOs or International Organizations.
• Experience working with vulnerable populations.
• Proven experience in external representation with government and donors.
• Excellent communication skills in English and Ukrainian.
• Proficient in writing high-quality reports and analyzing information.
• Ability to build relationships with institutional stakeholders.
• Experience as a social worker or educator, especially with children.
• Availability to open the FOP level 3.
