We are seeking a Chief Accountant, who will be responsible for managing the accounting activities and for charging of establishing financial controlling mechanisms in order to present a valid picture of the assets, liabilities, equity and future potentials.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive and service-oriented person with a ‘can-do’ attitude who instils this in their team members. The best candidate has to possess good coordination and communication skills, excellent organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and proactive approach to problem-solving. This person should be familiar with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics 365, or Ukrainian programs similar to the accounting system and demonstrate experience and knowledge of IFRS9, local financial regulations and best practices.
Responsibilities:
Financial and Accounting Management
- Responsible for organizing accounting process by internal coordination with Accountants, Area Accountant, CFO and other departments in MFI
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly bank reconciliation and prompt action taken on reconciling items
- Supervise the work of accountants in the preparation of payments, deposits, petty cash and voucher preparation
- Maintain subsidiary ledgers for all assets and liabilities [Branches and Head Office]
- Ensures that the General Ledger is properly and completely maintained
- Prepare monthly payroll and payments of statutory deductions; prepare and submit annual statutory returns
- Propose and prepare internal accounting policies and procedures
- Participate and implement appropriate financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes
- Identify, develop and implement the key financial controls, in partnership with the internal and external auditors where appropriate
- Responsible for the fixed assets and inventory record
- Review and compile monthly project funding requests and process for approval
- Prepare quarterly fund request form
- Prepare cash flow projections on a regular basis for managing net refinancing risk
- Provide assistance in any audit or examination to be conducted by the external or internal auditor
Reporting
- Prepare Monthly Reports with VF Regional Finance Manager and in consultation with the MFI’s CFO
Responsible for the preparation and submission of reports required by the management, donors, Support Offices & VFI
Prepare statutory annual reports, yearly tax balance and tax application and other reports for authorities
Ensure the completion, presentation and analysis of the monthly management accounts, corporate plan, budgets, forecasts, full year VF reporting and Board reports
- Prepare different financial analysis for the needs of Management and CFO
Capacity Building
- Responsible for increasing capacity of the accounting team through hiring, developing and supervising subordinates
- Identify annual trainings required for the finance staff and ensure the implementation of the trainings
- Strengthen the capacity of staff under supervision through continuous on-the-job training and other methods
Requirements:
- Master`s university degree in economics, accounting, business administration or public administration management
- Good knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Computer literacy and advanced user of MS Excel
- Minimum 3 years of experience related to financial or accounting activities (including experience in banks, non-bank financial institutions)
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of IFRS, local financial regulations and best practices
- Good oral and written communication skills, in English and Ukrainian
- Experience of using ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics 365, or Ukrainian programs similar to the accounting system
- Candidate must meet the NBU requirements of: full legal capacity; full time availability to commit to the role; no potential or existing conflicts of interest that may harm proper performance of their official duties; compliance with the law and public regulations; fulfilment of financial obligations; professional activity; not holding positions or ownership of a substantial interest in financial institutions, postal service operators, lessors, providers of limited payment services, characteristics related to the functioning of payment systems; no court decisions for violation of the requirements of anti-corruption legislation, AML legislation, legislation on financial services
Preffered:
- Professional experience in Finance department of a microfinance institution or bank
- Professional qualifications for example: ACCA DipIFR / Diploma in International Financial Reporting CAP/CIPA (Certified Accountant Practitioner/ Certified International Professional Accountant ) or British ACA and CFAB certifications of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW)
