Ehvert Mission Critical, a business unit within Salas O’Brien, is seeking an experienced Architect for a long-term independent contractor basis.

This is an ongoing contractual engagement with a US-based company and is not limited to a single project. The role involves continuous collaboration across multiple mission-critical projects, based on business needs.
You will provide services as an independent, self-employed professional under a formal independent contractor agreement.

Role Summary

We are seeking a talented Architect as an independent contract worker to support the design and coordination of advanced data center projects across the U.S. In this role, you will be responsible for developing architectural concepts, modeling and coordinating building layouts, preparing technical documentation, and ensuring design quality using advanced BIM tools. You will collaborate closely with structural, mechanical, electrical, and automation disciplines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, contributing throughout the full project lifecycle from schematic design through execution. Creativity, precision, and strong communication skills are key to success.

Key Responsibilities

• Designing, controlling, and implementing architectural systems and products for mission-critical facilities
• Developing and maintaining project scope of work documentation and revisions throughout design evolution
• Ensuring all architectural designs comply with project requirements, cost, schedule, and safety standards
• Preparing architectural drawings, schematics, and detailed design documentation
• Producing and managing models and drawings by utilizing BIM software such as Autodesk Revit is a must
• Using BIM tools to virtually design architectural systems and coordinate with other disciplines
• Reviewing and integrating construction, mechanical, electrical, and structural inputs to maintain multidisciplinary alignment
• Supporting design documentation for permitting, tendering, and construction phases
• Ensuring compliance with building codes, regulations, and quality standards

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Architecture
• Proven expertise as an Architect in industrial, commercial, or mission-critical projects
• Written and spoken English (B1 or higher)
• Deep knowledge of construction methods, building products, and relevant codes and standards
• Hands-on experience with design tools such as Revit Autodesk — is a must
• Experience with SketchUp, 3ds Max, Photoshop
• Familiarity with Lumion, Tekla, Robot, Inventor, Twin Motion, Unreal Engine, Navisworks, SolidWorks — an asset but not required
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary engineering environment
• Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong reasoning ability, creativity, and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

This engagement is strictly as an independent contractor. You will not be eligible for any employee benefits, and we will not withhold taxes, provide insurance(s), or make contributions to social security/pensions on your behalf. A formal independent contractor agreement will be required before work begins, governed by Texas, United States law.
