Assignment
Senior Translation and Reporting Officer is responsible for managing a team of Translation and Reporting Officers as a part of Communications and Reporting team, supporting with proofreading, reviewing and editing and creating of English/Ukrainian/Russian publications resulting from IMPACT/REACH-led assessment activities, in cooperation with IMPACT/REACH team in country and in Geneva. He/she will have the opportunity to work across all IMPACT/REACH programs and thematic focuses, including its humanitarian-focused portfolio, environment/disaster risk reduction portfolio, socio-economic portfolio, and support to local governments and decision-makers.

FUNCTIONS
The Senior Translation and Reporting Officer will be responsible for the following tasks:
1. Staff management:
- Provide operational support (e.g. planning of workload and signing of TSs) associated to the translations work as requested;
- Plan unit work: allocate the work (translation, interpretation, and editing) for Translation and Reporting Officers with attention and consideration of their specialisation, strength & career development goals, follow-up on deadlines of translations requests according to the translation tracker;
- Enable planning work, continue close communication with IMPACT/REACH units’ representative (AO, SAO) on current, regular translation requests and expected translation and interpretations requests;
- Support and foster peer-to-peer learning among TROs through leveraging their specialisation (focal points), to ensure their growth and sustainability in high translation quality.
- Provide TROs with the timely feedback on their identified area of growth (reflected in their ToRs) identified during editing, review of their translation, on accuracy and style;
- Conduct appraisals for team members and as per request lead language tests for TROs recruitment;
- Facilitate further adoption & extension of the interpretation portfolio;
- Proactively identify capacity building and development opportunities for the TROs to ensure the highest performance.
2. Product development activities:
- Establish high quality review procedures of other Ukrainian and Russian-language public-facing reports to ensure high quality of translations through all the stages of the Research Cycle (data collection, research design and piloting phase);
- In consultation with IMPACT/REACH Assessment Officers, translate information products (reports, factsheets, situation overviews, and other formal outputs into high-quality Ukrainian and/or Russian publications);
- Provide interpretation during the meetings as per request;
- Edit and proofread translated and newly created documents (English/Ukrainian/ Russian);
- Update, maintain and improve the IMPACT/REACH main translation documents Translation Style Guide to keep the best practices of the TROs documented and streamlined and reflected;
- Ensure the confidentiality and data protection during translations;
- Lead on the Humanitarian Terminology Bank (Ukrainian, Russian) and ensure the standardisation of the key terminology across all main research cycles;
- Facilitate TROs’ contribution to Terminology bank development for their respective cycles & ensure the endorsement of this Terminology bank sub-chapters and chapters by respective units.
3. Support to communications and dissemination
- Advise and validate language in presentations and communications aimed at external stakeholders;
- Create and review public-facing products (posts, articles, mailing lists etc.) for IMPACT activities as a part of the IMPACT/REACH Reporting and Communications Team to ensure that they are delivered in the most impactful outline;
- Support the Reporting and Communication Manager in developing dissemination products (briefs, emails, newsletters, etc. in English and Ukrainian) as per request;
- As per request, support Communication Officer with the review of their translations and write-ups.
4. Monitoring and Evaluation
- Introduce and conduct monitoring and evaluation activities for the TROs to ensure the ongoing learning processes;
- In coordination with IMPACT Reporting and Communication Manager, follow-up on the dissemination of the product to the stakeholders and public engagement activities to inform the further update and improvement of dissemination activities;
5. Confidentiality and Data Protection
- The IMPACT/REACH Senior Translation and Reporting Officer maintains the strictest confidentiality of data and processes. He/she will actively take measures to prevent the unauthorized sharing of information and data.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required and necessary within the area of responsibility.
Qualifications
Education - Bachelor degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Linguistics, or any relevant discipline;
Technical requirements: - Full working proficiency in English (at least a C1 command), Ukrainian, and Russian required;
- Previous experience working in humanitarian, development, or environmental fields required;
- Previous experience translating, copyediting, drafting high-quality analytical products in Ukrainian and Russian documents;
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite including Excel and Power Point skills
- Desirable technical qualifications:
- Knowledge of report production software (i.e. InDesign, Illustrator) is a strong asset.
- Knowledge of computer-assisted translation software is an asset.
