About the role
How you will contribute
We are currently looking for a legal counsel for our port in Odessa, Ukraine to act as the sole in house legal advisor for the location. You will be overseeing all of the legal matters related to company operations as well as being the legal expert for the senior leadership team. You will cover areas such as civil, commercial, employee, tax, health, safety and environmental issues. You will also be responsible for compliance matters and insurance- related queries.
We are going through a huge amount of change as an organisation as we pivot from a primarily ports and terminal business to an end to end supply chain provider. You will be working within a huge amount of transformation navigating some of the day to day as well as challenging legal issues. You will lead on the drafting, reviewing and negotiating of all legal documents making sure that they are compliant and protect the company's legal interests.
You will develop and implement local policies as well as adopt DP World's global policies. There will also be responsibility for insurance related cases as well as managing and being responsible for the KYC database and documentation. This role has a dotted line to the Head of Legal (Ports and Terminals) DP World Europe based in London and you will be expected to work with other legal colleagues across the wider European and global entities.
What you will bring
To be successful in this role it is essential that you have the following skills:
- A Master's degree in Law or related discipline from a Law university
- A strong grasp of written and spoken English
- Extensive experience of practicing law demonstrating knowledge across civil, employee, tax, criminal and HSE
- A strong strong communicator who listens, understands and critically assesses key information
- A fantastic problem who can provide creative solution to difficult issues
- Strong attention to detail
- A relentless focus on delivering and producing results
- Excellent stakeholder skills and the ability to manage relationships across geographies and cultures
